To keep the board rolling in the off season I figured I would pose some buy/sell questions for everyone to ponder.

Buy or Sell:  " After a win less 2008 campaign the Cornell Rams will rebound and actually put up more victories in the win column vs. the moral victory column".

Who is buying this and who is selling this.

Selling.  The conference was even a little "down" (more parity) last year and they still couldnt pick up a victory.

I will sell.
While I think Dillon will break is 0fertheIIAC streak he is on, I still think there are some lessons to be learned as far as finishing. More moral victories than actual victories this year.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

I have to buy... barely, since there is NO SUCH THING as a "moral victory"   :D :D :D

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

13,113 = DJIA on 9/8/07 (Cornell's last victory)
6,531 = Current DJIA average 3/9/09

BUY LOW, SELL HIGH BABY!!!

I am going to sell this for a different reason.  Economics.  While parents nationwide are losing "juniors" college funds they are tightening their belts.  Disposable income is at an all time low so it will be hard to support their college students while they are at school.  Credit is hard to get for schools, especially high priced ones and people will be looking for cheaper closer to the barn type alternatives.  Since Cornell 's population is mostly out of state, I think that you will see hard times recruiting this year.  Cornell is not known have a big influence in recruiting Iowa, thus the good athletes will be going elsewhere.  Funny how the economy might effect the football program.

So the Rams could go 4-5 and still technically have more moral victories than actual victories...or you can go with the "there are no moral victories" mantra.

Hmm, I will say sell.

But, I will say Cornell will get some conference victories this coming year.  It just better not happen against Dubuque!!!

Buying or Selling

Was the conference "down" last year?
You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

Selling.

Evidence that the talent level across the board is rising...

A couple of teams were down (Coe and Central)...but still stocked with highly skilled players

A couple more underachieved (Cornell and DBQ)...but both have some ballplayers that can put a hurt on someone

And the rest...

Simpson a bit better (IMHO)

Loras, Luther and BV way up

Wartburg pushed UWW at UWW to within a few plays here or there.

But that's LAST YEAR

Where's your team this year?

Break out of hiberation you all.  Basketball is over.

Spring football is weeks away.

<Doing my best Hacksaw Hamilton>
Wartburg, where are you?
Can I get a Coe call?
Is there a BV believer out there?
Simpson.  Shout out.
Will someone get loud over at Luther or Loras?
What's the dirt on Dubuque?
Central and Cornell pick up the phone!

From the Nebraska border to the Mississippi, from Baja to the Canadian Rockies where are you?

Stuff I've heard ... or made up ;) ...

BV - Considering resurrecting the "white knight"
Central - Dorenkamp recommended Zweifel to Runkle
Coe - Boiler snafu steams department budgets
Cornell - Track installer offering free turf
Dubuque - Averaging 70 kids / recruiting day
Loras - Octomom hired to boost enrollment
Luther - Recruiting 4 states - talented pool
Simpson - Storm toooo quiet - show us yer lightning bolts! <how's my "Hacksaw" Hamilton impersonation?>
Wartburg being Wartburg rankles foes

No doolittle I think you missed the point of my post.  5 losses do not count as moral victories.  Saying you kept with Central for 4 quarters is a moral victory.

If Cornell would win 4 games next year we all would have wished we would have bought this because they would have made significant improvement over the past two years.

Now another 0 fer or 2 win season and the people who sold will take a wheel barrel to the bank on friday!

BV is going to suck.  Enough said.

Buy or Sell today folks.

"  Coe season last year was a fluke and Staker will have the boys in check come this fall to the Coe teams that we have come to know over the past few seasons.  Coach R's departure for Wabash has no bearing on the performance of the Coe football team in the coming years"

Who is buying this and who is selling this.

I am selling this.  I I think that Raeburn was the reason that Coe got to the level that it did and that more tough times are ahead in CR.

I think you'll find I said something very similar on the day Staker was hired.
