Klop, I meant 1 or 2 conference titles over a decade instead of 3 titles over a 5 year period.  With the other years being like your typical BV season...5-5, 6-4, 7-3

If BV would win 1 or 2 conference titles a decade I would be a much happier camper.  I am sure OldNorse and Floyd would be as well.  BV has not won a title since the 70's and I don't know Luther's streak but I am guessing its quite some time!

Luther last won conference title in 1978 in a 4 way tie with Buena Vista, Central, Dubuque, that was also the last year BV won a title. Dubuque won 79 + 80. But since '81 only Central, Wartburg, Simpson and Coe have won titles.

One or two good years a decade?  What rationale are you using for a good season.  Mine is 6-4 or better is a good season in the IIAC.

That is a very relative statement.
I have played and coached on a couple of 7 win teams and never, ever felt good about it.
I have played and coached on a couple 8 win teams and only once felt good about it
I have played and coached on a couple 9 win teams and only once felt bad about it.
I have played and coached on a couple 10 win teams and never felt too bad about it.
Never would I consider 6-4 good. Sorry, JMHO

Buy or sell,

Wartburg will be better this year with momentum coming from the playoff run coupled with a coaching staff that will be together for a whole year instead of just two weeks.

I have to know more first.  Who did the Knights lose, who are they bringing in.  Is the coaching staff still in place.  My gut says, Wartburg will be Wartburg and challenge for the conference title and have the pieces together to make a deep playoff run.  Of course, the way the question is worded.  They would have to go to the semi-finals or better to be better than last year.  So I will sell ;)

I will sell. Too many ?'s on D and a couple playmakers gone on O. Still will be playing for a championship the last week of the season which they have been doing for 11 years and no other IIAC team can say that.
Might even win this year, but unless things really come together, I don't see more than 1 win in the playoffs.

Nothing to say sorry about.  All you were giving was your honest opinion.

I have been on team that were 6-4 and did not feel good about it one bit.
I have one games 42-7 and said if we play like that again we will never win another game.
I have also been on 3-7 teams and the 3 wins were a miracle all things considered.  From injuries, to the ball bouncing the wrong way to everything that could go wrong did go wrong.
My statements regarding a 6-4 season being a good season was in terms of the layman.  The person who has not played the game and has not totally understand all that goes into the season.  6-4 from an outsiders view keeps the coaches employed and everyone feeling pretty good about  the team in the IIAC.  That might not be a true statement regarding Central and Warburg but for the all the others I will paint them with that broad of a brush.

Your 7 win seasons while coaching at Dowling could be very frustrating with losing to teams like Valley, Waukee, ect.  Of course all of this is JMHO.

I know the guy is a good football coach, but it might be a little overboard to name the nation's tallest building after him.

Just for the record, We have not lost to Waukee in football. Haven't played at the Varsity level and are 4-0 against them in the lower levels. Wanted to set that straight  ;)

Why not???

Coach K goes 8-2:7-1 his last year at Wartburg and misses the playoffs.

Willis goes 8-2:7-1 his first year back...but he is such a great coach he has that extra something that coach K didn't have to get his team into the playoffs...that right there deserves a building in his honor ;D

I can say that Vista High has never (ever) lost to Waukee...at any level in any sport.  That's dominance.   8)

Conjecturing on the concept...

If Wartburg goes undefeated and wins the Stagg Bowl.  We would no longer call it "the universe"...it would henceforth be called the Willisverse.

And A.M. and P.M. would officially be changed to Day and Knight.
