I can make a run at WH's "busiest student in the IIAC" claim.  ;D The short list: cheerleading, coaching, lifting, assistant editor of the paper, radio show host, education coordinator of my sorority, Greek Council President,  internships, practicums, and multiple service projects. Oh yeah, homework fit in there somewhere, too. Most of the time.  ;)
I would like to point out that I didn't bring this up.
But SK did forget a few things  ::)

I can name a lot of these students, and I would guess over half of them are athletes.
Would they have come to Wartburg had they not had the opportunity to play a sport on top of getting a great education? I would like to think so, but the truth is, probably not.

Wow I guess I did not know that Hoover needed you to rescue him.  I guess I failed to mention that I had morning lifting as well, oh wait I did.  I was not trying to get into a who is busier contest with anyone on this board.  My point was I found it ironic that Hoover knew what over 217 people were doing and what their story was at the time of graduation.  I am not saying its not unthinkable to know 217 people on campus to but saying that you know their story is something else.  I stand corrected.

Like he said in his line of business it pays to know what people are doing.  The more friends you have as doctors means more money to manage to feed your family.

Come on Klop, play nice. Don't start putting words in my mouth.

Interesting that I got my Wartburg magazine in the mail today. Lets me know what all alumni are up to and we get it 2 or 3 times a year. I don't need to know everyone personally to know what they do for a living.

Alright, alright...Did not mean to put words in your mouth.  Happy St. Patrick's Day to all.

A little Irish slang for ya:  "Get up out of there...the smell of benji off ya!"
"If Rome was built in a day, then we would have hired their contractor"

Happy St. Patricks Day.

What is the more likely scenario.

A. Klop is intentionally not wearing any green today in the hopes that he will get pinched by a bunch of women.

B.  Klop is taking a long lunch today with plans to drink green beer and eat some corned beef.

C. All of the above.

DBQ1965

College activities ... let's see.

Went to class ... sport's editor for the campus newspaper ... announcer/deejay for WDBQ ... intramurals ... made the Dean's list twice (unfortunately, it was the list you didn't want to be on) ... and set the unofficial UD record for the most hours spent in the Union in one week (M-F) without cutting any classes.

GO SPARTANS!
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Green is something that I wear today my boy, and believe it or not green beer will be in limited quantities.  I live a half a block away from where they dye the river and right next to a little pub called Lizzy's.  I have had plenty of time to drink me green beer and take part in the festivities.  Since I have left college I have became an old man and getting buzzed during the week is something that I do not do very often as I don't like getting out of bed the next morning.

Lunch? You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.  ;D

I was actually going to say otherwise. She was involved in a lot of things as well and that meant going to a lot of her activities.

This may come off as an arrogant thing to say, but it seems to me that what this all boils down to is another incarnation of the jealousy that other schools feel toward Wartburg.  It never ceases to amaze me how there's always a big call for conference unity when a school qualifies for the national tournament, but when Wartburg wins something big, someone is always very quick to take a dig at Wartburg at take a bit of the bloom off the rose.  Maybe its just me, but it sure seems like certain individuals around this board have a very difficult time simply congratulating Wartburg and being happy for the conference's success.  Its actually a bit sad, is what it is.

I'd like to address this because I have been critical of the stats reported on Wartburg's website. First, I'm not jealous. In fact, I always hope the IIAC has success in post season play, even Central ;) and I think Wartburg has always done a great job of representing the conference.

However, I continue to have a hard time believing the acceptance rates and here's why. I work at a professional school where many IIAC students apply. Our accept rate is roughly 45%. Wartburg applicants are slightly above that, but Simpson, Luther and Central are all in the mid-60s. And as much as it pains me to say this, Central has the best acceptance rate of the IIAC schools (but just by a little bit) ;)

So is Wartburg's biology department that much better than other departments on campus?

With that being said, we have had great students from all of the IIAC schools and that's great! But I just have a hard time believing that 20 out of 22 students who applied to Iowa and Minnesota Dentistry school were admitted when their acceptance rates are 10% and 15%, respectively.

I'd like to add to the raucus debate on who was busier in college...

Many a morning during my freshman year at UCSB began as follows:

Wake up
Grab surf board and get on bike to the Point
Surf for about an hour
Bike back to dorm
Scrub "natural seepage" tar off feet
Shower.
...Rest of day was filled with mundane school and athletics stuff.

Hmm, I didn't have near enough to do compared to everyone else on here.

Sold ads in the school newspaper 1 year.
Played on the tennis team 1 year.
Pep Band 2 years.
Fraternity 4 years.
Tongue on the Cannon Crew 1 year.
Frat secretary 1 year.
Worked 30-35 hours per week at Pizza Hut.
Interned 1 semester at the Dubuque Regional Airport.
Sometimes attended and studied for class, but...
...spent many hours deciding if we should start our night at the Dog House, followed by Fat Tuesdays, followed by the Shot Tower, followed by East Dubuque, followed by Burger Express, before going back home for the night...or
...start our night at the Dog House, followed by the Lux Club, followed by the Mining Co., followed with a return trip to the Dog House, before going back home for the night!!!

There were also many hours spent napping.  Other times we would get together and talk about our jealousy of all things Wartburg...or disdain for anything Duhawk related ;)

This sounds like an activity that would be a lot more popular at Luther.  Or amongst the female population at BV.
