Not quite sure why this guy would leave a job at Jenks. I've been there and to go to NIACC is no doubt a step down.

That building in the endzone is football only.

Nice facilities, but for their size, how many players went on to NFL careers compared to A/P???

Anyone out there want a free golden retriever???  Yet another dog has been dumped by someone at our farm.  It's been about 3 years now since the last one so I guess we were due.  That makes 7 or 8 since we moved here in 1982.  We'll have an add in this weeks Veridian Credit Union swap sheet on thursday.  Anyone on here can have first dibs.

It takes a sick B***turd to dump a dog, especially a Golden, they're not mean enough to kill anything to survive on.

People who dump animals out in the country ought to be shot. I bet half the time one of us is at the vet (we have 4 pets) we see someone there with an animal that has been dumped off. Like with you, doolittle, it's rarely the first time. Our vet is really nice about helping those people out with the shots and exams.

One of our dogs is a 115 pound golden retriever. He's the size of a small horse.

I hope one of you will help doolittle out and take that golden for him. They are such nice dogs and make great family pets. Most of them are very smart. Our guy got size instead of brains, but he's one of the nicest dogs we've ever had.

I'd take him/her in a minute but I don't think I could afford to feed two of 'em.

In the spirit of "I was busier than you" pissing contest, I will say our Golden weighed in at 117 today.  Big oaf never met a crumb he didn't like.  Vet put him on a diet and we can only feed him 6 cups of diet dog food a day.  Ya right, like he's gonna let us get away with that!  On the plus side, If I can get him into Wartburg, he could support me in retirement with his new medical career.   ::) ::)

ok, been out of this for two months or so, come back and post twice about my dog.  It has been a long winter.

Back to FB:  Dutch fans, buying or selling?  The only down team in the IIAC last year was our young Dutch. Youth plus key injuries equals 6-4.  Dutch return to normal in '09 and contend for their 30th IIAC title.

To help with offseason discussion- Let's do IIAC by the numbers. Using 1-99 if we do 1 number per weekday, that should get us through to mid-August.
Today's number is 1. Anything in the IIAC to do with the number 1.
People who have worn the number, streaks, stats, whatever you can think of. Be creative.
Brian McIntire was a great safety wearing #1. Also where the Wartburg wrestling team finished in the nation.
And-1 is 1 more than the amount of conference wins Cornell will have this year and is equal to the amount of conference wins Luther will have.

Somewhat IIAC related.  My wifes cousin...who went to Wartburg, is getting married October 24th...the same day as the Dubuque/Wartburg game...and to rub salt into the wound, he is marrying a Loras alum :o

Try this ...

Dear Cousin;
Unfortunately, your engagement conflicts with my engagement.  RSVP regrets.

P.S. Couldn't find where you were registered, so we're sending something Golden!!!

Any woman that would schedule a wedding during football season is questionable.

Disagree.  That's what bye weeks were invented for.

Doolittle - I do think that more info is needed to help you plan a semi-legit excuse.  Location of the hitchin' and kickoff time at the very least.  One scheme to keep in mind is the ole "skip the ceremony and catch the reception" play.  Might be able to talk the wife into this by explaining that you're not sure the kids can sit thru the ceremony without making a scene.  And if you aren't taking the kids along, then you can pitch it as saving money on the baby-sitter.

No "official" spring break trip here, but I'm taking the family to Kentucky for a wedding and spending an extra 4 days there in April and plan on catching a lot of horseracing and drinking a lot of whiskey.
My daughters, wife, and I all love the racing, but for different reasons.

Maker's Mark?

Makers is a fine choice.  Kentucky bourbon at its finest.  I am very jealous especially if you get to see the Derby.  I would love to be in the house on Derby day.  My bucket list includes having a horse face on derby day.  Lets see if I can make enough money to afford that!
We will be going to Keeneland. Derby isn't for 2 weeks yet. Had a bachelor party for one of my Wartburg roomies at the Derby 3 years ago. I wasn't able to make it though as my daughter got baptized that weekend and apparently a bachelor party isn't a good enough excuse to get out of that.

Anybody have any fun spring break plans or trips plan during the spring time?  It will be the middle of the summer before I get a reprieve from work so I am interested in living vicariously through peoples trips ;D

For my spring break from classes I visited an old roommate who moved to Daytona Beach.  Spent some time in the sun on the sand, hit up Disney World, and just enjoyed the nice weather.  He lives less than a mile from Daytona International Speedway, so I am already planning a trip next Valentine's Day for the Daytona 500.  As for the rest of spring I have a few weddings to fill up some weekends and a trip to Miller Park for Cubs/Brewers, a trip to Wrigley for Cubs/Cardinals and one final trip at the end of May for Cubs/Dodgers.

On a side note, I am working on getting old highlight tapes posted on youtube.  Once I get them up there I will let you all know so you can waste time at work like I do.

I am convinced coco and I both married "up".

Now to doolittles problem.  Where is the wedding and what time does it start?  The game is in Dubuque with easy access to the stadium off US20.  If the wedding starts at 1:00 and the location is within 60 miles of Dubuque, you can make the second half.

Last fall the lovely Mrs. Warthog and I attended a wedding in downtown Iowa City at 1:00 and made it to the Wartburg/Coe game before the first half ended.  You need a spouse who is willing to walk out of the church sanctuary just ahead of the bride and groom.  When the priest presented the couple, Mrs. Warthog & I jumped up and headed out.  You also need a spouse who is willing to dress for the wedding in team colors.  That wasn't much of a problem for us.  I had a black blazer and orange tie.  Mrs. Warthog went with the basic black dress and jewelry with orange stones.  Blue and white should be a snap.  You need a spouse who is willing to overdress for a football game.  Coach Willis' dad said he had never seen Wartburg fans at an away game dressed so formally for the event.  It doesn't hurt for the parents of the bride to be big football fans.  They tend to understand the early departure from the wedding and the late arrival for the dinner/reception.  In our case the parents had a son who had played at Colorado College. (Ironic this comes up in a post today)

If your logistics don't fit this plan, give me the details.  We'll get it figured out for you.  By the way, don't you have some pull at UD?  Have them change the kickoff time.  Maybe that would be a good day to use the lighting system on Chalmers Field.

That's for sure, Warty. We did marry up. I feel sorry for the guys whose wives don't appreciate football. Like you, we plan our fall social season around it. I'm picturing you and Mrs. Warthog in your finery at the game.
The DutchFan has the right idea. A wedding during football season means anniversaries at the same time. No good. The DutchFan will make someone a GOOD wife!

My only response is that the sharks leave mine alone and go for the tourists' balls.
