The DutchFan has the right idea. A wedding during football season means anniversaries at the same time. No good.
b]The DutchFan will make someone a GOOD wife![/b]

She might make a good wife but she surely is a crappy pool player ;)

That reminds me, a few months back, she was looking for help with ideas for a Christmas gift for someone special. Maybe she's at the point in her relationship where she'll need more help from us.

I wish that were the case!! I'm flying solo again these days.

Dutchie did some serious spring cleaning and threw out the BF.  Probably because she kept winning at trivial pursuit NCAA football addition and wondered what kind of man he really was ;)

Was a ****ty Christmas gift the reason for the split?  :P

Nah, my Christmas gift was a hit.  ;D

He was kind of a schmuck in other areas. Since you guys opened the discussion, let me ask you guys a question: why is it so hard to find a fun, normal guy in Des Moines? What I'm looking for is pretty simple: intelligent enough to hold up their end of a conversation, likes sports (especially football), music, not anti-social  ;D.... doesn't sound too hard, right?
A pessimist is a man who feels that all women are bad. An optimist hopes so.

There are guys like that out there.  They just don't have a full head of hair, six pack abs, and loads of money  ;D

At least you have decent standards.  You aren't resorting to "any guy that doesn't live in his parents basement"

You'll find that guy, I was 30 before I met my wife...it was just after I came to accept I would never meet the woman for me that I found her.  And she likes sports, so you can still find the right man.

With all that said, I still hope that Dubuque beats Central this coming fall for the first time since 1987 ;)

They're out there.  You're the pick of the litter in Des Moines and a guy who deserves you will swoop in on you one of these days. He could even be a Knight or a Peacock or a Storm. You never know.

You should go meet some guys at the Des Moines Rugby Club.  We are playing them in Des Moines May 9.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

It will be hard for you to find a guy that can handle being inferior in football knowledge. And that can handle you are probably smarter then him and he won't be able to ever win an argument.  ;D

But, more then likely you just need to move from Des Moines, too many stiffs in insurance or banking- BLAH You need a more colorful, secure man that wants to play catch with the football ;)

Anybody that picked Memphis this year, beware.  Going back to my first tourney bracket in 1986 I have NEVER picked the eventual champ.

Good call doolittle.  My bracket is officially busted!  Not that I was even close before tonight anyway.  I guess I still have Pitt winning it, but it won't be Memphis joining them in the finals.

I'm almost approaching the ranks of doolittle!  My wife asked me if I would like to join her and my daughter for Sesame Street Live coming up sometime relatively soon in Des Moines.   :o

Watch yourself, it starts with going to Sesame Street Live...it progresses to listening to a Sesame Street CD in the car, even when no one else is with you in it :o

Buy or sell...Dutchie is afraid of having a BF during the football season because she is afraid her over protective big brothers on the D3 boards might not approve of the guy if we would meet him at a game???

Which comes first...Dubuque wins a conference title in football...or...Dutchie finds a man most of us on here would approve for her???

Which IIAC team will win a football title first...BV, Cornell, Dubuque, Loras, Luther???  BV last won in '78, Cornell never has, Dubuque last won in '80, Loras never has, Luther last won in '78

I had Duke as a long-shot, upset favorite to win it all.  BUSTED!

I agree with Willie on this point.  Since I grew up in DM and most of the people on this board did not or are transplants to DM, I will testify that most guys in DM are d-bags.  There is an ever large contingency of high school heroes who are still hanging around the hometown doing little or nothing.  That being said, living in Chicago there are plenty of d-bags here.  The only difference is they drive a 50K car, make 100K a year, and tell you how great they are.

I would try to find a guy in commercial construction in the DM area.  Good values, hard workers, usually like to drink beer and watch sports!

Maybe you and I can sneak to the bar and drink beer during that.

I think you ought to try a farmer.  The ones I met when I was in Iowa all seemed pretty level headed and liked to have a good time.  Most of them are even still married to their first wives.  Since this is the 21st century there must be something like  farmerslooking4luv.com where you could meet one.

My bracket blew up last night. It's not even good enough to use as TP now. I guess I can just sit back and enjoy the games now.

As far as the Sesame Street thing goes. A memory I'll take to the grave is when at Disney on Ice when the lights came up for the first time and all the characters came out. The look at my then 3 year old daughter was absoluely precious! Her mouth dropped open and she was so mesmerised she couldn't talk. I can't help but smile every time I think about it. So remember who the show is for and enjoy it. They don't stay that way for long.
