Klop, you missed my point. My point is that if you wre going to have to pay $20k a year to go to school and play football, would you leave warm, sunny, Florida for cold, snowy, less diverse Iowa? There are probably dozens of options much closer to home. Now if you had to pay $5k with a "music" scholarship, you might make the trip.

Daddy I did not miss the point.  Go back and re-read what I wrote.  There are no options closer to Florida for the players.  My cousin is a perfect example.  He was to small to play at the d-1's down there.  The closest small school that recruited him was 12 hours away.  If he was already going that far, why not come a bit further to Iowa.  He sucked.  He got blown out of the water.  The kids in Florida who are not good enough to make the big schools have little or no options.  I have been apart of programs that feed off these kids.  There is this mystic that the kids from the sunshine state are better athletes.  The fact is they usually cause problems and have poor grades.  Not all of these but some.  So I hope this helps you understand this a bit better.

Think about me and your son.  Lets face it, we do not grow up hoping to be BV Beavers or Warty Knights.  Its the Cyclones, Hawkeyes, or Panthers.  Well only so many spots makes most of us head to d3.  The difference is we have much better childhoods and morality bases than these kids.

I vote for ShowMe and his creamy blather.  Willie U has a big chip on his shoulder which dampens the creaminess of his blather.

Kohawks beat the Jumbos

Coe 1, Tufts 0

Play Messiah tomorrow.

Neither team has a loss.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I wish I were a headline writer.  Somebody should be able to do something with Tufts & Salisbury.

My suggestion would be: Coe Softball Feeds on Tufts Salisbury

I don't know about the Coe cafeteria, but in my day tough salisbury steak was occasionally served at Wartburg.

Continued good luck to the Coe Softball Team.
BE ORANGE

Mr. Ypsi

Go get 'em, Coe!

Anyone who can beat my Titans twice on the final day of the regional (I really thought they would go all the way :'(), is my pick for the title.

You make a good case ... but I must take issue with your last line,  That is a very sweeping generalization ... and given the racial and ethnic backgrounds of Florida kids who must go elsewhere to play (especially those who might come to the IIAC), there are racial implications to that last line that I don't think you want to imply.

DBQ1965  I'm not trying to start a fight but I don't belive there was any racial implication from Klop's last line. If you look at where most of the kids in the IIAC were raised  to the kids from Florida, the kids from Iowa had a better childhood and a morality base then most Kid from the Florida kids that come form the intercities. You just have to look at the crime rate from the big cities compare to where must Iowa kids live, there is your better childhood  nothing to do with race.

Coe plays Gustavus Adolphus tomorrow in an elimination game.

They are down to the last three.

The winner tomorrow must beat Messiah twice to capture the crown.

Go Kohawks!

DBQ you really pushed my buttons on this one.  At no point in time did I make any remarks towards racists statements.  I did not even mention the color of the kids who come from Florida, because I know there are all colors coming from Florida coming to certain IIAC schools, just as those same kids came to the D2 school that I started my college career at.

This is what is wrong with people, you call a spade a spade and someone tells you to watch what you say.  I am not talking about of my rear end on this clergyman, I played with kids from Florida coming to the midwest and I heard their stories.  Some were good but the majority were heart wrenching and then you see these same kids get involved in drugs, crime, and alcohol and you damn well know that it is a product of their upbringing.

With all due respect sir, go pound sand.  For crying out loud we have a president of the free world who had black blood.  Dont you think we have broken down the walls some?

I actually watched the Messiah vs Coe game over the internet at ncaa.com.  The Messiah pitcher Rhodes was un-hittable as she had 19k's in the game.  One strikeout away from the Championship Record....and she's only a freshman!! The final score was 0-2, and the 2 runs came from a 2run HR in the 1st inning for Messiah.  Coe is playing Gustavus Adolphus as I write this so good luck to Coe!  It's kinda crazy that Gustavus Adolphus was the 7th seed at the Simpson Regional that included Wartburg, Luther, and Central and they are now included in the top 3 for the world series.
