If that man is Jewish or Muslim...it wouldn't be hard to do ;)

...or vegetarian

Doolittle, what do you have against vegetarians that you would exclude them, they can be men too, you know.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I am such an insensitive s.o.b.  :-*

Has there ever been a vegetarian football player?  Besides a kicker ;D

And it was 52 degrees overnight in Dubuque.  I'm ready for some football...now!!!

That's questionable if they have small cheese curds...   ;D

Good to see Matt Madd Turk land on his feet at Marshall.  He might have had a melt down once in a while on here.

After Wartburg worked up a financial package for him...his love for the game returned.

Knowing this will probably fan a tired discussion...

I wonder how much love he would've showed for a package higher than his UNI cost?   ???

Then the chorus sings:
How much love would Wartburg have showed if the kid was a scrub at UIU instead of a (semi-)stud at UNI
You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

Since he's not around anymore, anybody know how long Simpson's streak of not getting shut-out at home is?

I do know that the first release I got from Simpson after he was let go had a misspelling in it.

We're off to Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin for an art fair tomorrow morning.  Later we cross the river for a wine tasting event in Sherrill, Iowa.  If you are in the area both events are great day trip destinations.

This seems to have the makings of a great day:  cheese curds (squeaky), brats with Hell Razer mustard, brew pub beers, lots of wines.  For the more cultured there are opportunities to view various art forms and watch a wine tasting competition.

Lets hope the kid from North Tama has a good career at UD.  Good not great.  They can finish second or third every year so long as Wartburg finishes first.  (If Coocoo was writing this - Coe.  If DutchFan1 was writing - Central.  If Purple Heys was writing - Cornell etc.)

Perhaps Walston can remind me what year Wartburg ended up with 3 or 4 first team all-state quarterbacks.  We got like everyone of them from all the Iowa classes but one.  It may have been in his freshman year.  Maybe this is just a damn lie and I can't remember squat.

Sorry I missed you, I didn't see your post until 10:30 this morning. I did however, call the Mustard Museum to put them on the look out for anyone wearing Knight apparell.  I also made a couple "GO NORSE" placards and took some duct tape with me, on the chance I might come across the dreaded Wartburg license plates. I even stopped at the Grumpy Troll and had a beer, knowing a man of your fine culture would do the same. I tried like a steer, but no luck. So I made the 15 minute trip back home to continue my landscaping project. I would have gladly neglected my chores to assist you in sampling some local brews and talking a little IIAC football.

I would have thought "Cheese curds" would be the off-season topic in WIAC board.  ;D ;D ;D

Here is some IIAC F-ball news

NT's Hanus to play football at Dubuque

TRAER --- North Tama High multi-sport standout Wyatt Hanus has announced his intention to attend the University of Dubuque next season to play football.

Hanus was the varsity quarterback for three years at North Tama, leading the Redhawks to a 29-5 record and a state runner-up finish last season. He broke 11 North Tama records while finishing with 4,698 passing yards and 50 career TDs. He earned first-team all-state and academic all-state honors.

Oh man, another reason to dislike UD, they have a North Tama kid playing for them. I find it odd that someone named Hanus (Same name as the Archbishop, from a a pretty Catholic area of the state) would go to school in Dubuque and choose UD over Loras haha. Obviously there are other reasons, but just on the surface it seems odd.

I saw him play once last year down in Traer, wasn't too impressed, but he obviously did some great things during the course of the year and during his career. It should be a good pick up for UD. His best attributes from what I remember were his accuracy and overall athletic prowess.

Not going to lie...Dewey is a pretty good looking bird/furry beaked body builder.

Warthog - Did you happen to get your picture taken in front of the Ryan Kleppe statue in Mount Horeb's town square?

Maybe UD is really taking this "recruiting locally" thing seriously!!!

Also, Dubuque has been making an effort to get back to its roots.  There was a time if you had german heritage and were presbyterian in this area you almost automatically went to college at UD.  Especially if you lived in Grundy County.   UD has been stressing its Presbyterian roots a lot more over the last 10 years with this administration.  That might have had something to do with this kid.

du-sz, nice to see you on the football board.  We haven't had any Loras representation on here for awhile now.  Are you a North Tama grad?  My wife graduated from North Tama.

Good to hear about UD trying harder with in-state recruitment. It's been a while since I've been on the boards.  Since I left Dubuque I haven't been keeping tabs on Loras, and IIAC news, as well as I should. I'll get more into it come the fall.

I'm a GMG grad actually, so NT is right in our backyard; a good ole' Class A rival.  Good luck to Hanus, though. I always like to see small school kids succeed when they try the college game.

voice and Thunderbolt:

voice: The group of four couples we were with did get our picture taken in front of the statue by the visitor center.  We also took in the Grumpy Troll (2nd floor bar and pizza parlor) where we ordered two sampler trays of beer then got serious about the ones we each liked best.  We spent some hard earned Iowa dollars getting various mustards for this upcoming season's tailgating.  My deals of the day were a bird feeder made with steel rods that were welded to look like a cat and a junk art statue made out of an old golf club.

Thunderbolt: sorry you missed those bright orange plates.  The Wartmobile was parked near the water tower the other vehicle, also with orange plates, was parked the next block over.  I was searching for people wearing D3 appearal, but the best I could do was find a few people wearing various UW school sweatshirts.

If you or any of your crew need a replenishment of our local supplies, let me know and I will deliver to Decorah on Oct. 31st. Had I run into you yesterday I would have suggested a 20 minute drive south to the New Glarus Brewery. Home of the Spotted Cow, Fat Squirrel and Totally Naked.
