I believe Coe is reporting to camp today with moving in to rooms and issuing equipment and playbooks and their first practice is tomorrow.  Has any other teams start to report yet?

Isn't there a limitation to how many days D3 gets...and didn't that dictate a Saturday start?

Any Ram fans from this board going to Grinnell?

I might make the trip out.

Might be some Eddie's Carne Asada in it for you...

Are you going to be in Grinnell?  Talking to my son he suggested not making the long trip North to Lakeland.  With that being said Grinnell is a whole lot closer and cheering for the IIAC over the NWC is something that interests me.  If you are there it might make the trip to Grinnell worth it.

I am going to the Grinnell game.  Wife and daughter will be there too.  We hope to see you there!   :)

Don't quote me on this, but I believe it depends on when classes start.  Coe begins classes on the 24th.  That would give them 11 days of potential (do not know pracitce schedule) practices...just looked at Cornell's calendar and it looks like classes start on the 31st for them...as they say...always a day week late and a dollar short ;D

I know that is NOT the case. Wartburg reports this weekend and first day of class is Sept. 9.
Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

But 1st day of freshman classes are 9/4.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

CaliRamRL6

I could be wrong but I think the start date of classes and the date of your first game are factors in the reporting date.

Which school will be the LAST to have their season preview out???

Thunderbolt

From the NCAA Bylaw 17 playing and practice general rules

17.02.11 Practice units
In determining the first permissible preseason practice date, an institution shall count back from its first scheduled contest, one unit for each day beginning with the opening of classes, one unit for each day classes are not in session in the week of the first scheduled intercollegiate contest and two units for each other day in the preseason practice period, except that the institution shall not count any units during the preseason when all institutional dormitories are closed, the institutions team must leave campus, and practice is not conducted.

17.02.11.1 Sunday
Sundays are excluded from the counting.

17.02.11.2 Week

The week of the first scheduled intercollegiate contest is defined as the six days, excluding Sunday preceding the date of competition (even if one or more days fall into a different traditional calendar week)

17.02.11.3 Opening day of classes

The opening day of classes is defined as the first day of classes as listed in the member institution's official catalog. Required Freshmen orientation is not considered to be the opening day of classes for the academic year.

17.02.11.4 First day of practice

The first day of practice may be conducted on the day when the last practice unit occurs, which is determined by counting backwards from the day of the first permissible regularly scheduled contest.

Well that certainly clears things up nicely ???

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT:

GUARD #1:  You're using coconuts!
  ARTHUR:  What?
GUARD #1:  You've got two empty halves of coconut and you're bangin' 'em together.
ARTHUR:  So?  We have ridden since the snows of winter covered this land, through the kingdom of Mercea, through--
GUARD #1:  Where'd you get the coconut?
  ARTHUR:  We found them.
GUARD #1:  Found them?  In Mercea?  The coconut's tropical!
  ARTHUR:  What do you mean?
GUARD #1:  Well, this is a temperate zone.
ARTHUR:  The swallow may fly south with the sun or the house martin or the plumber may seek warmer climes in winter yet these are not strangers to our land.
GUARD #1:  Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?
ARTHUR:  Not at all, they could be carried.
  GUARD #1:  What -- a swallow carrying a coconut?
ARTHUR:  It could grip it by the husk!
GUARD #1:  It's not a question of where he grips it!  It's a simple question of weight ratios!  A five ounce bird could not carry a 1 pound coconut.
ARTHUR:  Well, it doesn't matter.  Will you go and tell your master that Arthur from the Court of Camelot is here.
GUARD #1:  Listen, in order to maintain air-speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings 43 times every second, right?
  ARTHUR:  Please!
  GUARD #1:  Am I right?
  ARTHUR:  I'm not interested!
GUARD #2:  It could be carried by an African swallow!
GUARD #1:  Oh, yeah, an African swallow maybe, but not a European  swallow, that's my point.
GUARD #2:  Oh, yeah, I agree with that...
ARTHUR:  Will you ask your master if he wants to join my court
      at Camelot?!
GUARD #1:  But then of course African swallows are not migratory.
  GUARD #2:  Oh, yeah...
GUARD #1:  So they couldn't bring a coconut back anyway...

:D

Cornell will be last if everyone else's comes out before 9/1...Last years writeup was 1 week after Media Day.  Cornell also will be going paperless in the Media Guide this year...this means that members of the Heys clan that cannot get to Iowa this year can still get a Media Guide without me having to lug a stack home.

I don't figure them charge for this...

Hey, hey, what do you say, Kohawk football reported today! (And they looked huge, too.)

I've heard from a few loyal posters that I've been missed around here. Well I'm back and ready for the 2009 season.

(I'm sure many more of you haven't missed me a bit, but I'm staying anyway.)

Go Coe!
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I got money on Loras, sadly. I don't even think they had one last year, the season just kind of started....
Not going to lie...Dewey is a pretty good looking bird/furry beaked body builder.
