Cochuck,
"I am not making an excuse for the Norse, they got outplayed by the Knights on Saturday..." dbljay21

I said it earlier...the Norse got beat.  NO EXCUSES.  Without Sherden this year, we still expected to have at least one win in the conference at this point and we expected to compete with anybody in the conference.  That is the mentality of Luther Football since Hefty took over.  And that is the way every program should be.

And here is why you hear the Norse fans talking about Sherden.  Statistically, we are talking about 1801 all-purpose yards as a Sophomore in 2004 with 15 total TD's.  He led the league in rushing with 1057 yards while only playing RB in 6 games.  That was 195 yards more than Suckow, who played RB in all 10 games.  Take that kind of production away from any team and you are gonna have a hard time finding enough people replace that kind of yardage and scoring.

There are also intangibles to talk about...I was fortunate enough to be at Luther coaching for Sherden's first two seasons.  And unless you were there day in and day out, you have no idea about how much that guy means to the team as a player, as a captain, and as a leader.  Every team has a guy that would just be devastating to lose.  Tyler Sherden is that guy to the Norse.   And I have to agree with Floyd...if Coe loses this year, people will talk about not having their all-conference QB.
Go Norse!!!

What's wrong with throwing the ball on 3rd and 7 with 23 seconds left only up 11?  Crazier things have happend in college football.  It's only a two score game.
THIS IS...OUR HOUSE!  WHOSE HOUSE?!...OUR HOUSE!  WE RULE....OUR HOUSE!!

I don't think Tekippe's numbers could be all that much better than Demoulin.  It is not fair to say that we will complain in the future since both Charlie and I talked positively about Demoulin before he took a snap in a game this season, and we didn't cry about losing Andy.  Everything is positive in Kohawk nation unlike Norse country.

Demoulin had the fourth best passing day in Coe history saturday.

behind two Bill Lech performances and one from Joe Brannen.

IT WAS 3RD AND 7! What else do you expect?
I will politely disagree with it being a 14-3 game though.
Wartburg's TD with 4 minutes left to go up 21-3 was huge. Overcoming 2 scores in the last 4 minutes while not improbable is unlikely. Overcoming 3 scores in that same time is darn near impossible.
As for Coe, the kohawk fans shouldn't complain too much (and they haven't) as DeMoulin leads the conference in passing.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

How is the Luther cheerleader doing that fell before the game?

Demoulin in four games this year

66 of 100 for 934 yards and 10 T.D.'s

No excuses over here.

Its a bad coaching decision is all.  Here's the scenario: Pass is intercepted and returned for a TD.  Two point conversion is good.  Onside kick is recovered by kicking team.  Offense scores a TD.  Game over.  Drive home safely.

If Luther didn't have any timeouts left and Wartburg takes a knee, the game is over.

From the responses on the board, it sounds as if Demoulin and Tekippe are pretty equally skilled.  Coe should feel fortunate to have a high quality backup that can be effective in the offense.
Go Norse!!!

I'll take it as a good coaching decision. That's an aweful lot of ifs that I'll take my chances.
And I'm pretty sure luther had a timeout left, not positive, but pretty sure.

So it's a bad coaching decision to have the faith in your players that they will execute on a play like that?

If you can take a knee and get the W, why would you even bring the possibility of an interception into play?  Maybe I am not as smart as everybody else here, but that is not that is not the right call to make in that situation.  The possibility of having a fumbled snap is significantly less than the chances of throwing an interception or fumbling on a tackle.  Someone please explain to me how bringing the possibilty of a turnover into the mix is a good decision when you have the game wrapped up.

It was a lot of ifs in that scenario Walston, but knightlife said it, "Crazier things have happened in college football."  I was merely presenting the craziest outcome for that situation.
Go Norse!!!

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

That is to bad about the cheerleader. My prayers go out to her and her family.  Injuries are a part of the football game but you don't expect them from the sideline and cheerleaders.  Good Luck to this young lady and I pray and hope she will be fine.

The pass was a little bit of a surprise at the end of the game, but like WH said it was 3rd & 7 & I am pretty sure that the Smurfs had a TO. Had the Norse not called a TO before the pass play, I believe the Knights would have taken a knee. You can't fault the Knights for trying to get the 1st down in the situation.

Regarding the game, after the 1st Luther drive that produced 0 points & only giving up a field goal with a short field on the 2nd, I felt pretty good that the Knights D had the Norse O figured out. When the Knights went up by 2 scores it seemed like a huge lead, the Luther side became  noticeable quiet after that score.
