I'd like to add another category of what HS teams everyone pulls for.

HS -- West Delaware (proud alum), Pella (because I coached there), A-P (does anyone have to ask), Urbandale (because their coach used to coach at WD), SE Polk (know several recent graduates) ...to be honest, though, I pay attention any time a school from NE Iowa makes news in Des Moines.

Oh, wait, I never listed my beers of choice, either -- silly me: Smithwicks, Guinness, Goose Island are favorites..... but, thinking back to my college days, sometimes there is nothing better than cold Busch Light from a keg....

Ok Coaches poll is out and Wartburg is the pick to win the IIAC this year with Central 4 points behind for second and Simpson third.  Wartburg got 5 first place votes, Central 3 and Simpson 1.  With this being said how about our own poll?
If you are game Rank the teams 1 to 9 and I will tabulate the results.  I will close the poll Sunday night at 8 is that enough time to get a good sampling?  I will cross country score it so the highest rank will recieve the lowest point total.  So 1st place will get 1 point and second 2 points and so on.

1 Wartburg

2 Central

3 Simpson

4 BV

5 Loras

6 Luther

7 UD

8 Coe

9 Cornell

Also please let me know if you are interested in the pickems this year.  I thought I would change things up this year a little by have a game of the week worth two points and that would be ones that are against the teams that are vying for a conference title or in the running and one for rivalries.

So there could be 6 points available for the conference season instead of 4 like it has been.  What do you think?  The only thing may be is games of the week my be subjective depending on the schedule as well as rivalry games depending on the schedule.  I also need to know who is BV's rival?

I would Say its Wartburg-Luther

Central-Simpson

UD-Loras

Coe-Cornell are their any others?

I know we have disgusted rivals at other times I just can't remember anyone saying that BV was a rival to any school.

Nice that the IIAC website can get a season preview from UD, but UD can't put one up on their own website.  :-X

With giving this no thought at all.

1. Wartburg
2. Central
3. Simpson
4. BV
5. Coe
6. UD
7. Loras
8. Luther
9. Cornell

In cases of a tie record I am just going with the team that is 1st alphabetically...that is what the IIAC did in 2007 with Coe and Dubuque...both teams were 5-3 in conference and 7-3 overall with UD beating Coe, but Coe was listed ahead of Dubuque in the standings.

With win/loss records I have
10-0 : 8-0 Wartburg
  6-4 : 5-3 Central  I have Simpson beating Central
  6-4 : 5-3 Simpson
  5-5 : 4-4 BV  I have BV beating Coe
  5-5 : 4-4 Coe
4-6 : 3-5 Dubuque  I have Dubuque beating Loras and Luther
  4-6 : 3-5 Loras  I have Luther beating Loras
  4-6 : 3-5 Luther
  2-8 : 1-7 Cornell  I have Cornell beating Luther

I have...

BV going l, w, l, w, l, w, l, l, w, w
Central going w, l, w, w, w, l, w, l, w, l
Coe going w, l, w, l, w, l, w, l, ,l w
Cornell going w, l, l, l, l, w, l, l, l, l
UD going w, l, l, w, l, w, l, l, w,
Loras going l, w, l, l, l, l, w, w, w, l
Luther going l, w, l, w, l, l, w, l, l, w
Simpson going l, w, w, w, l, w, w, l, w, l
Wartburg going 10 straight wins

IIAC beat us to the punch too, but at least our SID announced when we could expect ours.  Be on the lookout on 8/25.

Gotta put some more research to it for predicted standings, but there are 4 things I will commit to:

1) Cornell doesn't go winless
2) Cornell wins an IIAC game
3) No IIAC team goes undefeated through 10 games
4) No team goes undefeated in the IIAC

It will be fun to watch UD this season now that they have Coach Z and Little Z.  Their program will be on the rise for sure, only question is how far up they climb during their maiden voyage.  Good luck to them both, the Spartans and their fans.

I buy all of that. It wouldn't be shocking if the co-champs had two losses.

I put Luther this high every year and they alway fail so why change what works?
I really think from Coe on down could be randomly switched and be just as accurate.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Lights were on at both Chalmers Field and the Rock Bowl on my way home from dinner tonight.  Looked like UD has a big group of kids this year.  Looked like almost as many people out there as some of the practices as some of the ones I saw at Wartburg a couple years back.  A few blocks away at Loras, I honestly couldn't tell if it was the football or soccer team out there (the guys were all huddled up at the far end of the field).

Between seeing these practices going on and the cooler weather, I've definitely got the itch for football season.

I think we need more info on anyone who has disgusted rivals. Did it lead to any arrests?  ;D
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

That made me laugh out loud. Because you do, and they do, and it does.

But this year is different. Kinda like your whole 4 team 26 win coaching theory.
