Coe is going to win every game this year scoring nine on avg. and keeping the opposition averaging 7.  Elliot Rausa will be named IIAC MVP.  His average field goal will be from 37 yards out.

If Sportswipe can rank Coe second to last than I can rank Wartburg second to last.
I'm going to go with the same, except I put Wartburg 3rd behind Simpson and Central 4th ahead of Luther.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Wartburg--of course.  A fine Lutheran school with a big W on it's forehead
Simpson--moving on up with big incoming class
BV--a little bit of 2008 left over
Central--needs another year of rebuilding
Luther--alas! again
Coe--in a slump
Dubuque--this one will really come next year
Loras--lost too much at RB
Cornell--will win in basketball

I volunteer to drive up to Waverly with my 50 year old Kodak Brownie Instamatic camera.  I'll attempt to get all of the Wartburg Football coaches in the same room with everyone wearing the same style of shirt.  Then I'll take pictures for the web-site.  If time permits I'd even offer to jot down some information and write up current biographies.   ;)

Thought for the day:

First there are those who are winners, and know they are winners. Then there are the losers who know they are losers. Then there are those who are not winners, but don't know it. They're the ones for me. They never quit trying. They're the soul of our game.

Brewfest going on in Potosi...http://www.thonline.com/article.cfm?id=254129

Potosi brewery another stop you can add while visiting Dubuque for a UD or Loras game.  Along with Breitbachs in Balltown, many local wineries, golf courses, and uh, dancing establishments in E. Dubuque ;)

Cornells' Chris Handke article in the Telegraph-Herald.  Limited play due to rotator cuff strain.

Last year, I think it was, I was told I was on a cutup of the rocket screen against Luther my sr year. I got out to lead the screen, cut a Dback, we both got up, and as he was pursuing, I cut him again. I remember it, and I also remember only playing about the first quarter of that game because we were ahead by so much.

I pulled out an old video to show some of our linemen how to run a rocket screen and the guard with blazing speed looked pretty familar.

Coaches poll seems about right.

Favorite HS Teams:  Mediapolis, Camanche, Davenport ASS, Muscatine

You come to Wartburg to play for championships

ESPN has its own version of "Pick 'em" this year ... a weekly contest with 10 games involving BCS teams.  Pick the winner and rate 1 through 10 on your confidence in each team you picked.

I have set up an IIAC group, with The_Mayne_Event, doolittledog and yours truly having signed up so far.

If you want to join, click on the following link ... join IIAC Forever ... and use IIAC2009 as the password.  I think most of you already have an account with ESPN, so it should be easy to get in.  And if you don't have an account, its easy to do that as well.

Thought for the day:

There are two things every man in America thinks he can do: work a grill and coach football.
