DMW:  Welcome aboard.  Here is your first positive karma.  Have a good time at homecoming.  It sounds like it should be a great event this year.

...and your first negative karma.  ;)
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I was at the Tyler Molstre show against BV.  I was standing on the sidelines that game as a high school senior.  I was shadowing one the the Wartburg student trainers and the fumble just before the 22 yard Molstre td run happened 10 yds in front of me.  It was an awesome experience on that sideline that day... one of my best memories as a Knight even before I became a Knight....

Re: IIAC (Wart) finishes

Let's not forget last years victory @ Monmouth. That was awesome. Thanks again for the Scot's excellent clock mgmt!!!

The 1994 playoff game (rematch of reg season) between Central & the Knights @ Pella is right up there. If my memory is correct, it was a cold windy gloomy day in Pella. The Dutch were in the lead most of the way. The Warts had a late drive in the 4th as time was ticking away. They were held on 3rd down & appeared to be out of field goal range because of the wind & I believe they had missed a couple of PATs & or field goals on the day. They decide to kick & it seemed the ball was in the air an hr & clears by no more than what appeared to be a few inches. I think there was less than a min to go at this time, so the Wart following was feeling pretty good. We didn't expect a good return/short kick/penalty (whatever it was)on the return, but that is what happened. The Dutch manage to get into field goal position (I think a short kick-but there was a cross wind). The kicker had a good stroke on it, but the wind help push the ball left & it hit the left upright square, falling short. I think the goal post wobbled for 5 min afterward.

As a player (really showing my age now) 1982 3 ot victory over a very physical Spartan team ranks right up there. That paved the way for an undefeated conf season & the Warts 1st ever playoff appearance!!

DMWartburg,
Welcome aboard. I am new here also. Not only on the board, but to the league. You may want to take the $10 that you won and put it in the church basket. The Football Gods may look at that favorable when looking down at your Knights or contribute into The Warthog Fund for the pre-game festivities at Little Warthogs. I'm sure he would look at that favorable! ;D :o ::)

AZD -

Your first idea about putting the winnings in the church collection plate seems like a good idea.  :)

The Warthog clan doesn't want a donation.  When you come to a Warthog tailgate party you can leave your wallet, your beer, and your brats at home.   When we host an event we try to do it right.  Hub City Beer, giant brats/dogs, orange/black M&Ms, Oreos with orange filling etc. ;D

The lone Muskie on the Wartburg roster was on crutches Saturday.  I saw his parents at a distance, but I never got to talk to them.  I hope the problem is short term.  I love it when he lights up an opposing ball carrier.

As far as high school games go there were not any that come to mind that were come back wins but there was one that told us that our team had reached a high level of play.  2003 at AP.  Sons team went to Parkersburg and won like 27 -7 and was ahead 27-0 with like 3 minutes to go.  I say this not to run down a great program but to say that you know that you have played a good football game when you can almost put up a goose egg on those teams.  Having been beaten the previous year by about that same score by AP you knew that you had a good team.  AP that year was 2A and we were 1A.  We were not ranked and AP I think was ranked #1 in 2A.  I had respected Ed Thomas before the game and held him in higher esteem after that game.  He was a gentleman before, during, and after that game.

I was also at the 94 game, remember going home with a loss but still exhilarated by the great intensity of the game.

Doolittle;  thanks for the clarity, it was the Rob Houghtlin game to which I was referring, had the scores backwards.

Airborne Dutch

If I could direct everyone to the front page on the story about Greensboro's Rodney Beasley, a fellow paratrooper and former member of the 82nd Airborne. He was awarded the Purple Heart twice during three tours to Iraq. Short, but good story about his come back and decision to go back to school, earn a degree, and play football. Thats the beauty of D3 football. Any one can play. In my class, I had a former Marine, and my sophomore year, we had him and two members from the 101st that took part in Operation Anaconda, one of the big pushes to destroy the Taliban and Al-Qaida in Eastern Afghanistan.

Come back wins...High school

It has to be my sons' high school team in 2005, the Brophy Broncos against the Hamilton Huskies, going for the State Championship. The Huskies...going for their third straight title and having the number one ranked defense in the state. Broncos....never won a state title.
The game started with an interception and a fumble in the Broncos first two drives, both in which Hamilton cashed in on for two touchdowns 14-0 (first six minutes of play). All we could think is this is going to be a long game.
The Broncos did pick away at the lead, not allowing any more scores against them 14-9. Hamilton still showed dominance through out the game, but had to punt the ball back to the Broncos leaving them on their own one yard line (six minutes left to play).
What came next was incredible to watch. With a combination of determination in runs, pass plays threaded through the defense, two offensive injury time outs and a fourth down play came a scoring drive of 17 plays; time of possession 5:34; 99 yards.
Broncos win 15-14 to take their first state title!

The week end is starting early for me gentleman (and ladies). Televised Thursday night game.
I've been fortunate to see all victories, with all three of my sons, from the beginning of their seasons. Tonight might have a different ending story line. Going against Centennial, defending 5A2 State Champions with an 8th. ranked offense in the nation. It's going to be on their turf and should be interesting. I'm a positive thinker, but this one I'm not sure of. I'm not even sure where to get Hub City Beer? :o ::)
