Speaking of another job.  Do you know if Coach B found other employment yet?

I haven't heard that Brautigam is coaching this season.  Jay Davis, who was his DC is now the DC at D3 Morrisville State University in NJ.  Jeremy Fellows, who spent last season as the OC is now the OC at a D2 school in Mass.    Byron Abram, who backed up Jermar Jackson for 4 years and then became a GA at UD last year is now the wide receivers coach at Southern Oregon.

I had heard that Brautigam really impressed Upper Iowa officials in his interview last year.  But when some alumni with money found out he was coming from a D3 school and had a losing overall record they raised a stink and kept him from getting hired.  Other than that, I haven't heard anything about Brautigam coaching.  WillieU probably knows a lot more than I do though.

At what point should it concern me that Wartburg d-backs are making so many tackles?  ???
Don't worry about it until after the Central game.   ;D

Considering that Augsberg threw about 75% of the time,I wouldn't be concerned just yet.

I have a question.

Thinking about the Rams and their 0-fer conference seasons the last 3 years.

When Dubuque was going through some of their 0-fer seasons they were getting blown out by scores of 84-14 and 77-0.  Cornell has had almost no blow-outs like that.  Many games they are playing competitively until the 4th quarter.

What would be harder to take...getting your butt whupped bad and not winning a game?  Or playing teams tough, but still not getting a win on the season?  Curious to see what people think.
I'm hoping you get the chance to compare how you felt after last week's 8 point loss to this week's thirty point loss.

In my opinion:

Blowouts are totally disheartening, even embarassing, and leave you questioning your ability to compete.

Losing close tears at your heart, may even rip it out...but you believe that you can compete and it makes you that much more willing to put in that extra work to make those 3 or 4 plays that turn a game one way or the other.

I'd rather lose close.

That would just be the difference between me fixing 1 gin and tonic and fixing 2 gin and tonics saturday evening ;)

And whether Iowa can find a way to beat Arizona saturday afternoon.  If both of my teams lose...then just stay away from me.  If one wins, then it's not so bad...glass half full type deal.  If they both win...then I am a happy drunk!!!

As a fan, I'm glad there are no more sure things in the Iowa conference.  It wasn't much fun back when, if your team had Wm Penn and Dubuque back to back, you had to wait three weeks for a real game.  I wonder how the players and coaches feel.

Considering teams have thrown 100 passes on the Knights in 2 games, and run 47 times, I wouldn't be too concerned. You have to go back to '05 when an unathletic LB by the name of Alex Pollock lead the Knights D to find the last time a non-DB lead the team in tackles. '02 was the last time before that.

I may head to Ram country Sat to watch the Warts. I haven't been to Mt Vernon in quite a while. What are the options for pregame festivities (tailgating, local grill/pub,etc)? Thanks in advance.

You forgot to mention slow too! ;D ;D ;D ;D No just teasing.  That surprises me some that with all the good LB's that the Knights have had he is the only one that has lead in tackles.  Does that say more about the scemes that the Knights use or the plays that the opposition calls?

Chameleans pub for a Bleu/Blue cheeseburger basket and some brew...fantastic.  Or go to the parents tailgate and tell them you're a cousin of one of the cornell players...bring some tailgating supplies with you and they probably would let you stick around.

Beat me to it Doolittle. Chameleon's has great food and a nice selection of beverages. Turn right at the stop light, it will be on your right hand side in the 2nd or 3rd block. Right on your way to the campus.

High school "Miracle" games...

Uhhhhhhh, can't really think of any.  We weren't very good when I was in school.  In fact, my class didn't win a single game until Homecoming of our sophomore year (0-4 in 7th grade, 0-5 in 8th, 0-4-1 in 9th, 0-4 or 5 to start soph season).  That was a pretty big deal for us, as was earning a tie with Beckman freshman year.  Biggest wins we had were probably that first one, knocking Camanche out of the playoff race in our final home game as seniors, and an overtime win over Beckman my junior year.  That one came when their all-state kicker biffed a PAT that would have sent the game to a 3rd OT.

Sportsnight,
I have really found the true meaning of...Boy we sucked! I read a story this morning about an Arizona high school team.

Now we can both start feeling better about our high school football days!

What is really sad is that there were only 250 people watching a 5A game in Phoenix.
