Thought for the day:

It's not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference.

I'm thinking of hopping across the Mississippi to watch Monmouth/St. Norberts this Saturday. Would I have my name deleted from the Wartburg Booster Club and be required to turn in my secret IIAC decoder ring if I passed on going to Waverly in favor of going to Monmouth?

I'm in no way indicating I believe the Wartburg/Buena Vista game will be a laugher.  I just think the MWC showdown between the Fighting Scots and the Green Knights could be a blast to watch.

Do it warthog.  It has a chance to be quite a show.  All conferences are invited.

Ok with week 5 having passed and now getting to the half way point in the season.  Let me take a poll on what are the surprises in the conference.  What would you say is the good surprises and what are the bad ones.  No right or wrong ones just checking as to what the IIAC posters are thinking right now.
I think the way Central is improving every week by leaps and bounds is a good surprise, they really remind me of some of the dominating teams of Central's past after last year's 4-4 conference finish.  The bad surprise, but not to Dutch fans, is that Simpson is not playing as well as expected.  Shouldn't probably say that the week we play them though.    :-\

Bye week at end of season.  Hopefully it will give us time to heal injuries before the playoffs.  Would hate to see these boys turn in their pads early.

Ok, back up the truck a bit Klomp.  There are 5 tough weeks left before we talk playoffs.  If I remember correctly 4 of the 5 teams left on the schedule beat us last year and the 5th was conference runner up.  Doesn't sound like we should holding the third weekend in November open just yet.
Agreed.  That is why I said "hopefully" and "would hate to see these boys turn in their pads early".  I'm not taking anything for granted.  For any team that does not make the playoffs, I consider a bye at the end of the season to be a bad thing because it does require the pads to be turned in a week earlier than every other school in the conference and for seniors, that is a very sad thing, those kids want to play at least to the very end of the conference season their senior year.  I wasn't meaning early as prior to the playoffs, like an expected thing.  But I can see where you could have mistaken my meaning.

Wow, amazing how you can be blasted for thinking that your own team may not deserve to be ranked after winning only one game and be accused of being cocky all in the same season.   :o

I doubt it, but I think you might lose your rights to your tailgating spot for life.  You have to make hard choices in life.   ;D ;D ;D

Im liking how the Dutch are playing, but I dont feel any cockiness about it really. We have been playing really well and will have to keep it up to win every game. I do feel confident in saying that IF we can keep playing to at least the level we are I don't see us losing. Thats a caps lock if for a reason. I dont think Coach Mac is lettin the guys get anything into their heads though. One week at a time!

Go Dutch
And this week is for the IIAC South of Interstate 80 Division Championship.  Go Dutch!

Is that a trick question like how many times has BV come in last place in the IIAC West of I35 Division?

Walston Hoover,

You sure are quiet.  That slave driver head coach of yours must be really tightening the screws and driving you coaches hard with all of your successes this year.  Who do you have this week?

Doolittle,

They had a game under the lights last night in LPC.  That is a lot of football going on!!!

I'd try to talk my wife into letting me head down to Dysart but she just told me I am helping her clean the upstairs tonight :'(  She has me on a short leash...but since we will be spending this weekend in Dubuque with my old friends I have to be good ;)

If you want some tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner and some brownies to take home to Marshalltown you could stop in and say hello!!!

Purple Heys

Just booked plane tix to Iowa for November to catch the Rams-Loras tilt.  It'll be Senior Day for Jr. plus I'm bringing Mrs. Heys and Rev. 3 and Grandma Heys.  I'll be staying the week to see the Coe game the following week.   :)

But a lot of football between then and now...Go Rams!

Hopefully we can bottle up Luther's QB and shake off the doldrums on offense against a good Luther D.
You can't leave me....all the plants will die.
