And speaking of stubbed toes, does anyone know how badly Aaron Steenhoek is hurt and whether or not he will get to add to his sack count against Simpson?
"The Dutch sack attack lost a key component with last Saturday's injury to defensive lineman Aaron Steenhoek (junior, Pella), who is having a breakout season. Steenhoek ranks second in the league in sacks with 5.5 and is first in the conference in tackles for loss with 10 (2.0 per game)."

This comes from the write-up for the Simpson game.  I would guess he is out for the rest of the season.

As for Wartburg, not much to talk about coming off the bye week. I was told there was some changes made on the offensive side of the ball to get the best athletes on the field together more, and that the recievers are catching the ball much better which is what the KNights are going to need if there is another conference title and playoff run in the works.
Watch out Walston, someone might start calling you the WB version of ShowMe.   ;) ;) ;)

BTW, is AZDutchman Central's version of ShowMe?

No one is another schools version of ShowMe
But he is in the neighborhood.
Are you seriously comparing the confidence of a football player's father at the number 8/9th ranked team in the country halfway through the season to an over confident, over zealous football fan of a nearly winless team in the conference over the past decade before the season even begins? ??? ??? ???

Granted there is a lot of football to be played yet against a lot of teams that beat Central last year, but Doolittle is right, no one compares to ShowMe.

I knew I wasn't going to make the top ten lists with the post that I wrote.
I did underline a couple of the lines so there may be an understanding that I didn't mean any offense to anyone.

I hope I don't step over any lines here
Seems like I did step over some lines

I hope this is not insulting to anyone from this team or other teams
Also seems this past post may have been considered too bold or abrasive.

I know that I'm new to this league and to this board. I didn't mean any offense to anyone and didn't want to seem too enthusiastic, but I'm not the conservative fan who doesn't speak his mind. Unfortunately, if I have something to say I usually say it.

If you haven't noticed my posts usually consist of comments, questions and an effort to try to get an occasional laugh. I do realize that I am only a fan and not a player or coach. I'm not the one on the field getting all bruised up and putting forth the efforts to try to accomplish a win.

Thanks Klompen for watching my back

AZDutchman

A fan, aficionado, or supporter is someone who has an intense, occasionally overwhelming liking and enthusiasm for a sporting club, person (usually a celebrity), group of persons, company, product, activity, work of art, idea, or trend. Fans of a particular thing or person constitute its fanbase or fandom. They often show their enthusiasm by starting a fan club, holding fan conventions, creating fanzines, writing fan mail, (writing on D3boards) or promoting the object of their interest and attention.

Eh, you're fine. Don't let the haters spoil your fun . :)

(I'm a seasoned pro at annoying people on here.  You're not even close yet!) :D

AZDutchman...please continue.  Some people are just having fun with you.  It's nice to have new blood on here.  And ones that like to post often.

There is a history of the Dutch fans being very conservative with their enthusiasm vs. Wartburg fans who have been in the past very happy to to revel in their teams good deeds.  And for a long time, with the exception of Coe, no other teams really had any title runs...so it's been just a few fan bases getting a sniff of the good time.

I think a lot of what's gone on here is just a bit of hazing of the new guy.  No need for you to curb your enthusiasm for your team.

You're not suggesting that ones confidence and zeal for the team they support needs be bound by their won-loss record, or some ones ranking, are you?

But, you are right. Any comparisons to SHOW ME are a bit of a reach. Though he was always welcome here and is probably missed by many.

No harm--no foul, AZDutchman. It's all part of the give and take around here. I did notice your underscored disclaimers, and probably should have let it slide. But you'll find that your not alone in speaking your mind around here.
As long as you and your son feel the same way three years from now, as you do now, thats all that really matters. With 238 D-3 football teams, there are roughly 21,000 kids that didn't go to Central. They didn't all get cut.

AZD:  Don't worry about curbing your enthusiasm.  Being excited about your team is half the fun.  You just need to be prepared for the slings and arrows that get launched your way if and when the Dutch lose one.

doolittledog:  I need to review my past postings.  I guess I've thought the Wartburg contingent on here was fairly conservative about making predictions and looking too far forward.  I thought we were more in your face after the fact or fairly talented in finding statistics that favored our beloved Knights.

I actually don't know what make of an observable lack of Wartburg Kanigget bravado this season...  :o

I would say that they are being quietly confident...but to long time readers...that is obviously so out of character...   :D

I kind of associate this feeling with the same feeling first month of Junior going away to Cornell, when our grocery buying habits hadn't yet adjusted to the reduction in consumption...we knew something wasn't right and there had to be a correction....just needed to adjust.   8)

I always looked at Cornell as Camp North Star and Wartburg as Camp Mohawk... ;D

I understand there were some discussions in Kansas City last week concerning an NCAA and NAIA merger.  Has anyone read or seen anything about it?

I think there are about as many NAIA teams in Iowa as there are NCAA D3.  It might be interesting to have two NCAA D3 leagues competing in the state.

Perhaps some NAIAs would give D2 a whirl.  I see the league UIU went to is considering an expansion.  I also see the Peacocks are continuing their tradition of excellent football.
