Lets keep this volleyball talk to the other board.
Just kidding, my wife was a MB at Wartburg, back in the day when it was Central, Wartburg, Simpson as spoiler, and everyone else was a ways down the line.
Congrats to the Dutch on Saturday. I second that the punter was the MVP. Its tough to get any yards on the Dutch let alone drive 90+.
Knights Defense played awesome. 1 big play away from winning that game and would have made my prognostication of a shutout look good.

Walston,

That is true about the one big play.  I didn't see the game being 7-7 I really thought it might be 14-10, 21-14.  I thought that the Knights would score but if you take away the INT I don't know if the Knights would have scored.  It is a judgement call but I think that the Knights got some help from the official on the pass interference call on that drive to extend the drive.  Did you have a better look at it.  I thought the Knight receiver created the contact if there was any contact.

Walston,

This is not sour grapes just thought that if you took two plays away the game could have been a shut out both ways.  Did you see it that way.

Congrats to Loras for making Don Hansen's top 40.  They are ranked #39.

Very sorry to hear about the passing of the UD wrestler that fell 22 feet off of a house a few days ago.  My prayers go to the UD family.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

If I remember right it was right down in front of me where that happened and we were yelling for it. I didn't see what happened before the ball got there, just saw the defender there when the ball was there. The rec may very well have initiated contact since I only saw the end of the play.
As for 1 big play for both teams-
As a very biased Knights fan-I look at it as the Knights moved the ball for the most part all day starting with the first drive, but horrible field position made it nearly impossible to score.
With the exception of the first drive of the second half, Central did nothing with the ball, in fact I think the first first down they had was by penalty with 19 seconds to go in the first half.
I guess I saw the Knights defense making plays all day long, and that int. was just one of them, albeit a huge one.
Again, a very biased perspective.

Walston,

I don't disagree with your version.  I think the Knights did a great job of defense all day with the exception of the long run.

Having said that I think the Dutch D did a great job as well.  The Knights did move the ball.  But they did not move it more than 40-50 yards at any one drive.  The field position was key I will admit that.  But with the long run the Dutch did have a 93 yard drive.   :)  And thus the huge play.

I agree the Central defense deserves a lot of credit.  I don't call Wartburg's 213 yards of total offense, "moving the ball for the most part all day," no matter where they started.

I just hope Central finds some offense soon.  They won't always be as lucky as they were Saturday.

It must have been one heck of a week for punters since Central's wasn't on the team of the week.  I think the problem is, they keep the statistic for punts downed inside the 20.  If they did it for punts inside the ten, the Central guy might have got it.

Two Loras guys made the team of the week.  Congratulations, you guys deserve the recognition as well as the ranking of 39th in the Hansen poll.  I hope Loras keeps it up.

Personally the IIAC conference gives to much credit to average yards per punt, rather than other more important punting statistics. Such as punts inside the 20 (or 10) or net yards per punt.  Wait I spoke to soon, according to IIAC stats punts inside the 20 are not even recorded

Real cool, way to leave out BV's kicker, Chris Kemmerer, from the D3football.com's team of the week.  He made FG's of 32 and 2 from 46.  Speaking of punts inside the 20, 3 of his 6 were.

And for what it's worth, BV knocked off Simpson's VB team the other night too.

Intentionally limiting my picks to conference games, I'll take Coe, naturally, Central, Loras and BV.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Walston Hoover

Wartburg only had 4 3-and-outs.
That's not too bad at all. Most of the time they got at least 1 first down, or would get good yardage on first down, only to have a negative play on 2nd down that left them in a bad position. It especially seemed like that in the fourth quarter.

It is not too often that two players from the same team make team of  the week, and it's also not to often that I see a game in person that has two team of the week players.  that's all I was trying to point out.

Hey Show, real cool on your end leaving out Dubuque's Walner Belleus, however
