I have a feeling the UD season is about to implode, so the Spartans will likely get some players on the all-conference team.  But not likely a COY or POY from Spartan Nation.

I just can't see Coach Z allowing this to happen...maybe he loses the seniors as he (Coach Z) writes off the year and gets more PT to the younger guys.  The attitude you refer to seemed to be a trait that had signs of evaporating under Coach B.

There is no guarantee that Central runs the table at this point...though they look the part of having what it takes to do so.

The IIAC is a tough place to play...we beat each other up.  We put a few licks on Coach Z.'s kid and Central didn't escape unscathed.

Jr. has taken his shots, but don't think for a minute those 2 and 3 guys he's trying to run over aren't delivering right back.  We are a Black and Blue conference.

The Kaniggets found out that if you aren't ready to win, get ready to lose.  We had Luther at 12-10 and if we made a play at the right moment we might have won.

Cornell would not have this gawd-awful conference streak in the MWC (having already beaten Grinnell), SCIAC or NWC(with Louise and Clark).

I don't know what that means necessarily....But I know that Dillon hasn't "lost" his seniors...And they will be leading and fighting through the rest of this season, win or lose.

It isn't about POY's or COY's, it's about competing.

If you don't compete for 4 quarters in the IIAC, you get beat.

Central showed that...in the 4 years I seen us play them, this was the most focused they've been.  THAT, sets them apart right now.  We did not see that out of Wartburg or Dubuque...and we have not been able to sustain that ourselves.

I figure Coach Z is saying something like:  "Its a lot harder to get a win in the IIAC than I thought it would be.

I found this over on the General Issues board.

A link to Iowa Wesleyan considering a move to D3.  And in the article it mentions a possible exodus of schools from the NAIA to the NCAA.

Iowa Wesleyan left the IIAC in the mid 1960's.  They have 850 students and an endowment of 9.5 million.  Both are small by IIAC standards.  Not sure about their other sports, but their football team has been beyond bad.

Nobody will be winning a lot of games with half your starters being freshmen.  I just want to see a good effort from the team each week.

Not meaning to be argumentative either, but what do you think Coach Z thinks or thought...regarding how easy or hard it might be relative to his initial opinion prior to league play.

How good could they have been if there were more than 24 or 34 or whatever the actual number were asked to come back. One would also think that getting blown out this year would make it hard to recruit impact players for next year.

Is it fair to say that IIAC and WIAC posters find that Coach Z isn't winning as much in the IIAC as was expected prior to the start of the season?  I know it is fair for me to say that.

He had a lot of respect for the programs in the league and thought Dubuque would struggle with such a young team.  He recognized that it would take time to build the Dubuque program into a contender and he welcomed the challenge and was excited about the opportunity.

I can't speak for the other WIAC posters but I've said all along that it would take time for him to get things going in Dubuque.  Personally I didn't have an expectation of how many games they would win this year.

Why do I get negative karma every time I post something here?   :D ;)
