Zweifel caught everything thrown his way.  Very good receiver and does a great job of getting open.  Wickert did a good job as well but has to do a good job week in and week out to be compared to Zweifel in my opinion.  I hope Wickert keeps getting better each week as we need him to, our running game was solid on Saturday so maybe not as many opportunities to put up the big numbers like Zweifel but he was catching everything thrown his way as well.  Wickert completely tore his knee up last year and is working his way back so I look for him to be a big part of our offense in the future.

Both are listed as Juniors so we will get to see them on the field together again next year.

On to Luther next Saturday and the weather forecast looks like the field will be a little muddy as it has been lately.  Go Knights!!!!
Win or lose we still booze!!

Coe opened the season with a question mark at QB. Seems like we've got a legitimate MVP candidate at this point.

Should the Kohacks conquer Central and he has a big hand in that, I would tend to agree.

No way that Coe can conquer Central...that was decided a few weeks ago.

You're right...What the heck was I thinking?   ???

If you haven't listened to this week's ATN podcast - Pat & Keith are both pretty much on board with the UWW shift we were talking about last week now that Wheaton has been beaten.

West - They say St. John's #1 with Central #2 - both agreeing that an argument could be made for swapping the two
North - UWW
East - MUC
South - Wesley

If all of that holds true - it would be interesting to see who really gets the #1 / #2 in the West.  My gut tells me that I'd like to avoid 3rd seeded Linfield in the 2nd round - and it'd obviously be huge to host the regional final if both Central & SJU got there.

Havent had chance to listen to it yet but why is there reasoning with putting Linfield at 3? Due to the "Extreme" west sub bracket?

Much needed win for the Knights on Saturday. The offense looked much better with only one fumble to mar a good performance. The defense still needs some work but looked better. Zweifel is a good receiver, but no better that Wickert for the Knights.

The new staduim is nice and the money spent shows, but no visitor locker room?

Visitor locker room under the home stands.

And I believe there are also locker rooms under the visiting side stands that the softball teams use.  You can see the walkway to those in the webcam.

Then why did Wartburg dress away from the field?

FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Doesn't look like any visitor locker room large enough for football in those pictures.

The 3 games I have seen there the visiting team dressed at the stadium and used the locker room.  Maybe there was some sort of mechanical issue.  I don't know but the other teams have used the facilities at Chalmers.

Maybe Willis missed the days of his Knights spending halftime under a tree near the endzone.

Stats aren't everything though.  Last year Yordi had better stats than Hansen.  But from watching the Wartburg/UD game I thought Hansen threw a better ball and looked like a better QB.  But by going with stats Yordi jumped out as the superior QB.

Wickert might haave the same skills at Zweifel, but just isn't a part of the offense at Wartburg like Zweifel is at UD.  Though I think Zweifel is a great receiver that obviously studies the game and knows his routes.  He is definately on track for an all-american year.

Not really sure how you can make this claim considering the numbers the kid is putting up.  AND, you just got done watching him go for 12 catches and 167 yards.

If Wickert's, or Gustafson's or Roskam's dad's were the head coach and we threw the ball to them as much as UD does to Zweifel, they would have similar numbers. I'm not saying Zweifel isn't a good receiver, just that there are several other recievers in the league that have similar skill sets. He has 62% of UD's completeions. Wickert actually has a higher per catch average. No disrespect meant to Zweifel, I just thought he floated above the field or something like that.

I wrote this before I saw DDogs's post. But I stand by what I said. The offense is built around him. The plays are designed to get him open. He's the first option every pass. He'll be an All-American, and he will deserve it. But he'll get it just as much for the system as for his abilities. If Cornell threw the ball as much to Heys he would be an All-American too.

This illustrates my point. If Wartburg threw at Wickert three times as much,he'd have similar stats to Zweifel. The same for Gustafson.

The Regional Rankings released this week will be very interesting.  Pat posted on the Northwest Conference and Top 25 boards that he expected Linfield to be ahead of SJU and Central, largely because of SOS numbers.  But during the podcast, he and Keith hardly mentioned Linfield when discussing a possible West #1 (assuming a UWW move North).  Not sure if that was an oversight, or if they had reasons for passing over Linfield that they didn't discuss.  I think the three teams are very close and home-field advantage could be huge.  Perhaps Pat can elaborate...(or we'll just see what the rankings look like...)

I was very impressed by QB Hansen with accurate passes to  Z except when double covered leading to two intercepts at critical times- he has good hands but aren't receivers suppose to catch the wide open ones???

As D-Train said above - they didn't even mention Linfield when discussing the UWW move North and the possible #1 seed in the West.  Not sure why, especially if Pat is talking on other parts of the board about the Cats being regionally ranked higher.

I think all three teams would be estatic just to get UWW out, and then battle it out from there.
