Just going to go slit my wrist and drink draino

PH - Hope you're on the mend - Cornel played pretty well.  I do feel better that we didn't sit in cover 2 but changed up some and ran a fair amount of man.  Jr. split the seam on a cover 2 and from then on Simpson seemed to change it up enough to keep your young QB guessing and let front 7 put more pressure on him.

Couldn't find any Draino and we were all out of Sierra Nevada.   Hard to get an angle with the triple blade razors these days, too.  So ya'll have me to kick around for the rest of the year  :(

I just gotta ask WHY?  Why does Simpson decide to make changes now...I mean...wait a week for gosh sakes.  They didn't do this it for Central, why treat us any different?  ???  ;D

I feel your pain, we play that coverage against Dubuque and we likely win that game. Plus my son likes man coverage a little better and has a better shot at interceptions especially if front 7 can put a little heat on a QB.  Pressue leads to ill advised late over the middle throws which safeties tend to love.   Main thing is to mix it up and keep QB's guessing.

The Norse knew how to be mudders.  Their quarterback wouldn't get nervous sitting in the pocket.  He knew, in all that slime, the Knight defense wasn't going to get to him.  The Norse o-line would circle the wagons and just push the Knights a little to keep them off balance.  It was actually quite humorous to watch.  Wartburg seemed to understand a pass rush in the mud was problematic so much of the afternoon it appeared they went with a three man rush and dropped everyone else back into coverage.  Regardless the Norse seemed to be able to frequently find an open receiver.
I am behind in reading, so maybe someone else mentioned this, but I would not blame the mud for
WB not being able to get to Reynolds.  He is a very good QB with a very good line in front of him.  Central is leading the conference in sacks and he is just nearly impossible to sack, even on field turf.  Give some credit where credit is due.

I thought I was giving them credit for a job well done.  Regardless, it was kind of funny watching the slipping and sliding.

"He knew, in all that slime, the Knight defense wasn't going to get to him. "

Gee, my bad, I somehow interpreted your words to say that the QB wasn't nervous because "in all that slime" the Knight defense wasn't going to get to him.  I don't know how I thought you were blaming the mud for not being able to sack him.  What was I thinking?   :o

Wartburg looked a lot better yesterday when Yordi wasn't afraid to tuck the ball and run.
I hope that is the game plan Wartburg decides on for playing Central.  I hear teams do well rushing against the Dutch.   ;) ;) ;)

I'm not talking a game plan for him running the football, I'm talking when the protection starts to break down, he has just enough speed to get a first down and not much more. I wouldn't call him a running QB, but a qb that is a run threat if that makes sense.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Central is... oh never mind.

Oh c'mon it's not like you can get in trouble for something like that....Yordis.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

It makes a lot of sense to me after watching it happen. In the first half, the Knight running backs were 13 carries for 28 yards. Yordie was 2 carries for 28 yards including a first down on 3rd and 13 which led to a field goal. In what amounted to the decisive 10 minute drive in the 2nd half, Yordie converted 3rd and 6 -- 3rd and 8 -- 3rd and 3--and 3rd and 7 with his feet. None of which were designed runs.
I also thought one team made a good adjustment at half time by putting their QB under center and running power plays on a field that wasn't condusive to shot gun snaps and misdirection plays.

footballdaddy

Good point. I would maybe worry a bit about a running game that was successful on that feed lot passing for a football field. Imagine what it could do on a consistent surface.

My favorite moment, after the pick 6, was thr referee losing his shoe in the mud on the 50 yard line.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."
