So Dutchhawk are you predicting a blowout by the Dutch?

Dont know where you got that, you will have to check the pick ems for my prediction ;) I was just stating the facts as presented thus far by season statistics.

I was just checking, saying that "Yordi would need his track shoes" it just came across that way to me.  ;)

I am hoping for a good game and of course will be cheering for a Knight victory.

I will be pulling for Central to go all the way in the playoffs!
Win or lose we still booze!!

The Wartburg Football home page would be more enjoyable with cover pictures of the Luther or Dubuque game rather than the one of the Coe game.  :-[

Enjoy it for a week ;)

Whatever you say.  :-*

I was just saying we tend to get to the opposing QB frequently, 32 sacks in 9 games. So hes going to have to be running, always a dangerous situation for a throw first QB.

As it was pointed out to me by many during a wide reciever discussion earlier on this board, statistics don't mean everything. ;) ;) ;)

This is WAY off the subject matter, but I need to vent.

This is the absolute perfect example of why I HATE the NCAA governing body:

Kentucky freshman bball player, John Wall, gets a "two-game suspension" (which actually is the last preseason game and the first regular season game) for accepting travel money so he can go on unofficial recruiting trips during his junior year of high school.  He has to repay the money and serve the suspension.

Oklahoma State Junior receiver, Dez Bryant, gets suspended for the season for lying to NCAA officials about a lunch date with Deon Sanders where no NCAA violations happened.  Had White admitted initially to the meeting between him and Sanders, there would have been a short investigation leading to a dismissal of inquiry.

Is it just me, or do these two rulings seem COMPLETELY backwards and convoluted?????  Do you think if Bryant was a receiver at Notre Dame he would have received the same suspension?  Or if John Wall was a freshman at Rutgers he would have gotten the same suspension?????

Wartburg looked a lot better yesterday when Yordi wasn't afraid to tuck the ball and run.
I hope that is the game plan Wartburg decides on for playing Central.  I hear teams do well rushing against the Dutch.   ;) ;) ;)
I'm not talking a game plan for him running the football, I'm talking when the protection starts to break down, he has just enough speed to get a first down and not much more. I wouldn't call him a running QB, but a qb that is a run threat if that makes sense.
It does, but under the circumstances, I still like it as a game plan.   ;D ;D ;D

No matter the records, never underestimate the Knights when they play Central.  Willis can get his team fired up for the Central game like nothing I have ever seen.  Doesn't matter the predictions and I expect this weekend will be the same.

I also expect that Central will be fired up and ready to play this weekend.  If I have my numbers right, this will be Central's chance to put Wartburg in a position to finish with the same record that Central had last year and I'm sure they would like the turn of events.   :)  The good thing for WB fans and players is that it allows you to think of what can happen when you have an off season of bad memories.

I'm looking forward to a great game, great atmosphere, though I wish it was being played in Pella and hopefully some great weather.

They dont, but ypu were conjecturing about anyone could put up those numbers if thrown to enough. This is more of a raw, we got to the quarterback more than anyone else...as a TEAM

Let's go down this path again, shall we?

Central has been ahead by large margins in most of their games whidch makes the opposing team pass more to score faster which gives Central more chances for sacks. No doubt, Central has taken advantage of their opportunities, but still the other team has to pass to be able to be sacked. So, if Wartburg attempts 8 passes and Central sacks them 4 times they acheiver their season avreage. But if Wartburg racks up 3 TD's on the passes they do complete and win the game, BFD.

Actually, most teams lately have started out passing against us, even if they get the ball first.  Apparently they don't like our rush defense stats that are so meaningless.  So I will give you the fact that we have more opportunities for sacks, but not necessarily because we have scored early and often, though that does happen too.    ;)

I'm not a hater. I don't HATE anyone or anything on here.I will be cheering the Dutch on in the playoffs the same way I did two years ago when every Johnnie backer came here to send my karma to subterrainian levels.

BUT, if something pegs my BS meter, I have to say something or my head will explode, and I don't think any of you want that to haunt you the rest of your natural lives.

It is a good thing the Central pass rush has been so strong, because if I had to name a weak spot in Central's game, it would be the secondary.  I'm looking for them to step it up this week against the Warts.  I have only seen one live game (Coe) and two webcasts but, I think if there was a statistic for missed open receivers, the number for Central's opponents would be significant.  And they are still completing over 55% of their passes.  Unfortunately I don't think the Dutch can count on The Burg and playoff opponents to be so accommodating.  I'm not ready yet for the Simpson strategy of "jump in their jocks and stay there," but it is time to tighten up.

I would agree that the secondary is the "weakness" of the Dutch D - but even that unit has come up BIG when the other team gets within scoring range.

A good team that just sits back and chucks it around will probably put up big stats through the air against Central, but can they score?  Ask Dubuque how easy it was to throw it around all day - and then how hard it was to run or throw it that last yard.

That's why I really like this Central team in the playoffs.  When they get in the Red Zone offensively, they have the ability to throw or run it in.  When opposing teams get in the red zone, it's still going to be tough sledding against a good Dutch rush defense, and our secondary also tightens up considerably.

PLUS - I'm holding out hope that Mr. Steenhoek will be back for the playoffs, and that will make an already fierce pass rush even more deadly.

I didn't mean anything bad by hater.  It just that "my favorite non-central fan" just didn't resonate w/ me.

How about one of these...My favorite Central:
