If you want my opinion, and most of you don't, my POY is Alex Macey. Ask any player or coach in the conference and they will say that they don't understand why he isn't playing at the FCS level. To have these abilities and to stick it out over four years with a team that hasn't given him the best of support should be rewarded.
He's not the flavor of the month RB or QB, just a kid with a lot of ability who shows real commitment.

For those of you wondering...Yes...The 'Daddy just made our Christmas Card list.   :D

BTW I just want to point out 4 other seniors that I believe would have been key players for every other team in the IIAC:

Don Bladt, Brian King, Andy Siar and Zach Zasada.  These young men have stuck with the program and are our leaders.  They are fine young men of high character and I am proud that Jr. has these guys as friends and fellow seniors.

Cornell may not have made many good teams, but most all the boys I've met are turning into fine young men.

That's why I will continue to support Coach Matt Dillon and his program.

I'll be in Iowa tomorrow...Jr.'s Senior Day is a compelling priority...any chance you folks will accommodate me and move the Central-Wartburg game back to a 7:00PM start so I can watch too?   8)

I'll save a Blue Moon and a brat for you after the game. Does that work?

I think Boyle actually will win POY.  Part of the reason for that is that those voters who might vote for a Central player could well divide the vote between Snead and Zachary.  I do agree with one of the other Central posters that said Snead was the difference between last year at 6-4 and this year at 9-0 so far.  My reasoning is that a big share of the reason that Zachary is doing so well is that the O-line is tremendously improved this year.  Zachary was there last year, why did he only get a little over 400 yards?  Sure, he improved, but the line did too and I think DZ would be the first to give the line credit for his success.  On the other hand, we didn't have Snead playing last year and we were either one dimensional passing with Bandow or one dimensional running with Lackey, and Lackey was getting comparable, if not better, yardage that Zachary.  Snead has made us multi-dimensional and teams do not know what to expect from him, even though we are a run-first team.

On the other hand, a QB that goes nearly, if not an entire season without an INT.  That's something pretty special at ANY level of football.  Much as I hate to say it, it should be recognized.

And yes, DD, the Dutch were much quieter last year.  But we are making up for it this year.   ;D

Check out the link below regarding a story about WIAC non-conference scheduling starting in 2011.  They must schedule a fellow WIAC team as a "non-conference" game, meaning that they will end up playing one team twice in the same year!  How will that impact the IIAC teams who have scheduled a WIAC opponent in the past?

Central only had a one game deal with UWSP.  I don't know why.  I know it has been hard to schedule teams with Central's success lately.

Im going to nominate the Central OLine as the Conference POYs just to stir things up. Gotta admit they have dominated up front all year long. First in scoring offense, first in rushing offense, only 3 conference sacks given up, 5 total all year, and first in red zone offense. These rhinos have been absolutely dominant this year!

Walston may have more insight that I but I doubt more than one player from each team will get nominated.  If that is the way you could have 18 players or more nominated and 2 votes would win it as the coaches vote for so many other players.  So I would say that only one player from each team will be talked about.  Some coaches may not even nominate players as they know that they are not in the running.  I don't know for certain that is how it is I am just guessing.

Thought for the day:

When you lose a family member or something tragic happens, that stays with you forever. You never get over it, knowing that you have to deal with that for the rest of your life. Football is important, but not as important as you once thought it was.

Heys ...

You seem to have a great perspective on many things ... especially Jr. and his time at Cornell ... the Ram's play and lack of success (on the surface at least) ... and future support of the Cornell football program.

I want to applaud that.  I think that is what D3 athletics is all about.

GO SPARTANS ... and GO RAMS!

Q: How many Central football players does it take to change a light bulb?

A: The entire team and they all get a semester's credit for it!
