I think football daddy is PMSing.  He's grouchy, irrational and wrong.   ;D ;D ;D

But your grumpiness to accept that you got beat and take a note from the other Wartburg faithful who have been on here much longer, and although I dont know your history, followed Wartburg and IIAC football much longer (feel free to correct me with you having played there or whatever if is such the case).

Please quit complaining and being a wuss about things. No one on Centrals side was overly patting ourselves on the back, but a 10-0 season is surely something to celebrate. Going undefeated in the conference and on the season is something to celebrate and these seniors have done it 3 times.

OK I get it now. I'll just take my place as a second class citizen. I'll just check in every now and then to see how the playoff talk is going, after all, it's going into the fourth calendar week now. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I just call it as I see it. No one can accuse me of overlooking the problems in the school I back.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Well done Rams! I wish I could've been there.
Glad you weren't.

Yeah, beating up on the Pigs was a Saturday afternoon well spent.

Kohawks enter AFCA poll #22. Nice to see someone is paying attention.

I believe I mentioned I thought they should be a top 25 team a few weeks back. Evidently or D3 experts disagree ;)

It's about time!  I was concerned that Coe wouldn't even get a shot at the playoffs because they couldn't get rated.  Glad to see they finally did, it was a long time coming.

Quick question regarding Boyles season...

I know the Kohawks didnt seem to throw the ball deep much against the Dutch...cant speak for their other games. They seem like a dink and dump, run the ball by passing type team. Short tosses are easier to complete and thus less interceptions?

Im not in any way trying to take a stab at a great season by him but just asking a quesiton. Thanks

Early in the season, Boyle really seemed cautious with his thrown making sure to not take many chances.  I the last 5 or 6 weeks, Boyle has really taken more shots down the field appearing to change his progressions to a more down-the-field approach.  The whole offense appears to have taken off to a more big-play, attack offense in the last month.

Here is a statistical response to this inquiry:

Brad Boyle has averaged: 12.26 yards per completion and 7.80 yards per attempt this season.

In comparison:
Nick Yordi has averaged: 12.31 per completion and 7.62 per attempt.

Just food for thought for a good question.

]Since I'm not a regular at Wartburg games, how did the crowd compare to other games this yr (attendance)?  It seemed to be a pretty small crowd compared to other yrs, but maybe w/ Iowa/ISU playing home afternoon games, great weather and farmers busy it cut into the overall size of the crowd.  Thanks.

Walston-Hoover seats 4,000.  Wartburg listed 3,500 for this years Central game.  2007 Wartburg listed 6,800 for the Central game.  I remember reading they had people ringing the entire field so that number seems at least plausible.  That would make 3,500 with some empty seats this year look like it was a lot more empty.

This year Wartburg lists attendance as 3,000 for Augsburg; 2,900 for BVU; 4,000 for homecoming against Coe; and 3,500 for Central.  They end with Simpson this coming weekend.

You should have seen the Wartburg/UD game last year.  20 degrees and snow flurries.  There were about 200 people total in Walston-Hoover...of course announced attendance was 1,200 ;)

And for Colton Hansen, similar numbers...

13.24 per completion
7.80 per attempt

I was just trying to show that Boyle hasn't dinked and dunked his way to an NCAA record.

I would guess 3500 is high too.  It looked like half of the home bleachers were empty and 2 sections looked to be only Central fans, judging from the amount of red clothing across the way.

Outside the Crate

The Central-Wartburg game drew fewer W'burg fans than usual, and everyone where I was sitting was puzzled by that.  The large pep band didn't even show up!

The contest was better than I anticipated.  When one is down 3 scores it's tempting to call it a day.  The Knights, however, kept coming back, and Yordi was impressive.  I was proud of them, and the Central fan who reported he wasn't worried has a short memory or is cocky as h*ll.

Perhaps Central slacked off a bit because they already had the playoff bid locked up.  Frankly, I was surprised by Wartburg's ability to move the ball against an undefeated and 5-ranked team.  400+ yards?  Once again, defense is the Knight's Achilles heel, but I kind of wondered if Central shared that weakness if not to the same extent.   To win in the playoffs you have to bring defense, methinks.

In any case, good luck in the playoffs, Central (and, I hope, Coe).

Good luck to all of the teams finishing up this weekend, particularly the seniors!  There will be a number of great players ending their careers this coming weekend.  How about stumping for your players, outside of POY.  Which senior is most valuable to the team?  Which senior is most underrated/unrecognized for his accomplishment?  Which underclassmen is going to come out of nowhere to lead the team next year?  Which one does everyone expect to be a key leader next year?  Which coaches may be history after this year for whatever reason?  Any good roofing jobs opening up in the conference?   ;)
