Anyone's thoughts on why 30% of the voters in the poll think Central is one and done? What about Coe?

FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

...perhaps they are Coe, MIAC or Linfield fans?  ;)

PH
That was a great letter and one I am going to share with my son.  That is one young man that has the right perspective on life and competition.

I also believe that my son made the right choice at Wartburg and will have friends and memories that last a lifetime.  I did not get the oppurtunity he is enjoying and I regret it painfully.  I do take comfort in watching him grow and enjoy his time however.

Good luck to all of the seniors in what ever you choose to do from here on, you all made the right choice in playing DIII football.
Win or lose we still booze!!

Heys, add my thanks for sharing that letter.  I echo what someone else already said, that player was raised right and congratulations to him for taking the time to write it.  Win or lose, great sportsmanship should be recognized and way to go Rams and to the Loras player for showing it.

Good luck to all of the seniors who will or may be playing their final collegiate game this weekend.  It has been a pleasure to watch all of you, even as I cheered against you.  Enjoy tomorrow, savor the moment, win or lose, and hold your heads high, win or lose.  You got four more years than those who stopped after high school.  Maybe football was the secret reason you really chose to go on to get your college education.  But you stuck with it and you will have successful careers ahead of you.  Sports teach a lot of great life lessons, as shown by the Loras player's letter.  You are all better men for having played the game and learned the lessons.  You all get a standing O from me.

Coe, best of luck tomorrow.  Would love to have Heys Jr go out with back-to-back wins, but I have to hope for two IIAC teams in the playoffs.

PH, thanks for sharing that letter -- what an amazing testament to the young man who wrote it, as well as the team that compelled him to put pen to paper. God love Division III!
A pessimist is a man who feels that all women are bad. An optimist hopes so.

Changing gears...

So it's the 119th Cornell-Coe game.

There is absolutely NO sentiment that our season ended last week with a win.  Nothing. Nothing would be sweeter than to rain on the Kohacks Victory Parade and March into the playoffs.  I will say it again...it's just football for us...I expect we'll fly around and play with abandon like we did against Loras.

Being a heavy underdog in a rivalry game is a very good motivator.  2 years ago against a Kohack team that played a similar style, the game was close until the end.  This Kohack squad is obviously better than the '07 squad and the Kohacks are clearly on a roll...but what better time for an upset with them looking forward to the playoffs.

Sure the Kohack defense brings a world of hurt...but I think they'll remember the bruises Jr. administered back last year.  Offensively we are better than last year and we have a QB that can move around a bit and make plays.  Defensively, I loved the way we flew around last week getting sacks and T.O.'s  We harassed the Loras QB into 4 INT's...so we're looking to dial up the pressure to spoil Boyle's ( rhyme!  :D ) dream season.
You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

Charlie Kohawk

Enjoy your fantasy Heys. The Kohawks will have the final say when the Lambs limp back to Mount Vernon with their tails between their legs. There's a big difference between Coe and Loras, which you'll witness for yourself on Saturday. Go Coe!

Statistically...not a large enough (N) for the percentage to be statistically significant at this point! :)

Currently at 21 votes. I would think that would be a fairly large percentage of the regular posters here. Possibly could be an influx of foriegners messing up the vote.

Last I looked, not a lot of D3 readrs think Central ends up with the #1 seed, or even the #2. I would think a Top 5 team would get more respect even from outside our little group here.

I'm just saying......

It seems the poll may have been posted too soon.  Until the brackets are posted I wouldn't have much of an opinion.  If UWW goes to the north region or if Monmouth gets moved would make quite a difference in the odds as to whether Central-Linfield-St. Johns will make the semi-finals.  Before Monmouth fans attack me, their odds of making the semi-finals would also improve if UWW is moved out of the west.

Walston Hoover,

Great game.  It was a great effort on by both teams.  Sorry you come up just a little short.  I was listening on the radio to the whole game.  Your boys fought back and I wasn't sure that they would get there.  The had a great chance.  I can't imagine that the championship game can be any better than this one.

Agreed.  I think the bulk of readers project them as the West's #3 seed - with a decent chance at a 2.  But a huge factor is the strength of the region (even if UWW is moved).  Central would likely rate higher in another bracket or part of the country.

I'm curious why the poll doesn't include a "second-round loss" option?  That's exactly what a #3 seed would predict...

Was wondering that myself.
