How far is Pella from Des Moines? Any decent places to stay in Pella? How about tailgating for visitors? Any information would be appreciated.
Pella is about 50 minutes SE of Des Moines and over the past decade, a number of new hotels have sprung up, so there are LOTS of decent places to stay.
http://tinyurl.com/yjvzvpf should give you plenty of options.  There is a parking lot by the football field where you can tailgate, but beware the no alcohol policy on Central's campus, (subliminal message - use cups, not cans).  If you are coming in from Des Moines, take the first exit off Hwy 163 and turn left towards town.  Turn right at the stop light at the intersection of West third street, then turn right at the four way stop on Independence and it will take you directly to the parking lot.  Very easy to find as long as you don't go to the second exit that is the designated Central College exit.  If you stay at the Comfort Inn, it is just a short distance from the first exit off 163.  Country Inns and Suites is right off the second exit, and it is very nice, but the view is industrial as it is right opposite the Pella Windows Factory.

Don't forget the Dutch Letters delicacy.

Appreciate the input. Thanks. One other question what is the weather forecast locally. I got the data off Weather Channel but their website misses on the wind. Any wind expected to blow, windchill isssues? Trying to figure out how much warm weather gear to bring. ;D
It is going to be a beautiful day and I will be very disappointed if I don't see a couple of Stetsons on the visitors' side.

As playoff games go, the weather shouldn't be too bad and it sounds like the rain that is supposed to diluge us all week and play havoc with football practice should be ending by Saturday.  Sounds like temps in the low 50's.  I would plan that there will be a moderate wind blowing across the field, there always is.  Plus it is always easier to take layers off than not having enough to start with.

The Sports Page is a nice place to eat and has a great atmosphere.  Applebees is new to Pella, opening today and should be good as well.

I'm leaving today and I sent my weather back early so it could meet me in San Diego...   8)

Tough draws for the Dutch and the 'Hacks.

No easy game in the Wild West I suppose...  Go IIAC!

D3 plays out like Little League Baseball...an overloaded West Region with a couple of strong Midwest and East Teams.

The Royal Amsterdam is a very nice hotel in downtown Pella.  If you come to Pella check out downtown and get some dutch letters and other pastries from the bakeries you won't be disapointed.

It is a happy day, you don't know how long they were rumored to be coming before they finally did.  I would be the first to say Pella could use more restaurants.  Though I did fail to mention Monarchs and the Greek place that opened up where Dr. Salami's used to be.  Both are excellent.

I recommend staying at the Royal Amsterdam Hotel downtown and eating at Monarch's which is located in the hotel.  It's 6 blocks from the stadium and gives a special rate for Central events.

His TD/INT ratio is also ridiculously impressive.  Does Coe run a conservative offense or is Boyle just that accurate?

Accurate - Coe averages about 35 passes a game.
