Anyone from Coe going to the game?  Hello?  Anyone?  (crickets)

Here's my prediction, KoKoHawks: Johnnies win 28-14.  If you range the scores, I'll put the Johnnies at 21-28 against Coe's 7-14.  Johnnie D will be too tough,  Johnnie O-line too strong, and they will grind out a victory.  Early season secondary troubles are well past and a weak but accurate arm will not be enough to down the J's.

On the bright side, it's a nice drive and the beer is delicious.  Also, the stadium is fun.  Coe players and fans will have the opportunity to tick off a bucket-list item.  So not all is lost.
Nope, we're all staying home. Didn't you hear there's a new Applebee's in Pella?!

We're just happy to be in the playoffs. Thanks for hosting us. I wouldn't even practice if I were you. We're not that good.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

I pretty much guarantee I won't be practicing.  But assuming you didn't mean me, it's a long shot to be hoping that the Johnnies throw their season away by looking two weeks ahead.  It could happen, I guess.  And I could finally get Elle McPherson to stop calling me all the time so we ca re-live "that one wonderful weekend."

I recommend staying at the Royal Amsterdam Hotel downtown and eating at Monarch's which is located in the hotel.  It's 6 blocks from the stadium and gives a special rate for Central events.
Does anyone know if Pella has a movie theater. I couldn't locate one. May need something to do Friday night ;)

Is it too early in the post-season to discuss potential coaching turnovers? The time seems to be ticking by SLOWLY at Loras and Cornell for their head coaches. Loras keeps getting worse and Cornell just stays the same.

Yes, there's a theater;
Pella Cinemas
PO Box 222
Pella IA 50219
(641)621-0329   Fax: (641)621-0329

its even a tri-plex!  Wooo - hooo

its just across the Molengrat from the Amsterdam, but if I were you I'd just hang out at the bar.

The nearest Hooter's is in DM.  Most people in Pella drink in the privacy of their own home, which makes it a nice quiet place to live but not too good for the visiting, unless its Tulip Time http://www.pella.org/aspx/traveltourism/plan/extra.aspx?cid=0&sid=5&n1id=10&n2id=70

First off, I'm pumped that the IIAC got two teams in. I think they are both deserving, but I'm a little confused/miffed about the draw Central got. Now, I know its the playoffs and you have to beat the best to be the best, but damn. With that, however, I do like the idea of a matchup that no one has seen before. UMHB has been a great program since their inception and its bound to be a great game.

D3 is a bit different than D1 as far as coaches needing to win.  I believe the coaches at Loras and Cornell both completed their 4th seasons last week.  If you follow the Notre Dame model, they give the coach 5 seasons to see what he can do...unless it's Willingham...but's that's a whole other discussion.

Some schools put a higher importance on winning than other schools.  Some schools put more resources out there for their coaching staffs.  Who knows.

Another question might be...Are there any coaches out there looking to move on?  Whether retiring, moving into or back into athletic administration, looking for a higher paying job outside of coaching, or looking to move up to another D3 or D2 coaching position.

I think UMHB is thinking to themselves,
'I'm a little confused/miffed about the draw? We have to play the best of the best in the first round.' :-\

BFD, at the end of the day you're still in Minnesota, which only exists to give people in North Dakota something to aspire to.

Great shot!  Coming from an Iowegian, though?  Gimme a break  :o

I'm fully expecting Coe to come in and take care of business, just like 2002  :D  No Freddie Jackson this year, either :o

A tradition unrivaled...

I don't know what the team is thinking, but I know what the coach has a history of saying.  We're happy to be in because we didn't TKOB and get the AQ.  One way or another to get to Salem we'll have to go through tough teams to do it.  We have a tradition that says we can do it so let's strap it up and go to work.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Is there a Hooters in Pella?

I was in Pella twice when my daughter played volleyball there.  The first time it took me two days to find a bar.  I'm not the swiftist guy in the world but I can usually find a bar quicker than that.  ;D
See, this guy gets Pella.   ;)  Sports Page, Applebee's, Monarch's all have bars.  Monarch's is more for you old geezers.   ;D

Wish we were sent to the UWW region and got to play Wabash.
I would have liked going there and playing Lakeland again.  That is going to be one lopsided game.  On the plus side, we have already beat 2 teams in the playoffs, doesn't that qualify us for the quarterfinals?   ;)
