My wife said I can't come to the game.  I'll be glued to the internet with BBQ in hand though.

sounds like it's time to get a new wife  and go fishing too  :o
She's put up with me for 15yrs.  That's more than anyone should have to do.  ;D  Besides its a money thing.  If we had the money she'd just say have a nice trip.

Hey TT, just call obama your mama and tell him you are a bank in need and he will bail you out... ;)
no bail out for me until I'm permanently done with grad school.  If I'm getting bailed out its going to be for the whole kitty not just the tail ::)

AND what's  wrong with a little tail  ;D

This quote is from today's Des Moines Register article about Pella making it to the state championship.  Given the bracket in the West, Central and Coe would be well advised to take a similar attitude.

"It's kind of nice to come here and do it the hard way," Bogaard said. "We had, arguably, the toughest playoff schedule in the entire state of Iowa. We're stronger for it. I don't know, I love it."

Woodys closed down? WTF? I thought the cops might like having it open since you could literally walk to jail from there. Guess I have been too removed from Pella for two long. Although thats not necessarily a bad thing.............lol

I'm showing my age here, but man, I miss the Depot. Pella hasn't been the same since it was torn down my Senior year....

So what should we expect from Central? How big are their linemen? Do they have the speed to contain UMHB? I know they both run the ball, but I would not be surprised if they try to pound the rock. Im hoping UMHB can decimate them with physicality and speed.  >:(

That may be what the game hinges on. Will UMHB get worn down from the pounding of Central before Central is out of gas chasing UMHB?

I think its a safe statement that the physicality aspect leans in favor of Central, and looking at stats along w/ SOS, UMHB hasn't seen a rushing attack like the Dutch are capable of. But I also think its safe to say the great equalizer of speed leans to MHB.

I'd venture a guess that Central hasn't seen a running game like UMHB's this season either.  Reality is that the UMHB defense is built to win in our conference, which is somewhat pass happy.  So it's fast and aggressive.  That can be a problem sometimes, but since everyone is fast over pursuit is minimized.  The biggest worry going into this game is penalties.  The Cru averages 97.1 yds per game in penalties, and it has cost them.  In their loss to MC, UMHB had 95 yds in penalties compared to 48 for MC.  If UMHB plays sloppy like that it will be a long afternoon.  Of course with both teams being run first, this could be a very fast, low scoring affair.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

yes, very true. Id venture to guess the two conferences in question play polar opposite styles of football, which is why this is such an exciting match up. Speed and power used in two different ways by two very similar yet, vastly different teams. <--- Thats almost a poem. :P

I saw the penalty stat but I wasn't going to say anything because I hoped the UMHB folks thought it wasn't excessive.  The other thing you might want to worry about are the 13 lost fumbles.  Central will take all of the help opponents give them, including unbalanced defenses.  The NCAA didn't do the Dutch any favors, but they did make it interesting.  I am looking forward to an exciting game Saturday.

Coe fans have a dilemma.  Hang out with coocoo at the Dancers Ranch.  Or, drive 6 hours north to watch their team at an all-male college.  Tough choice.  Dubuque fans, with their love of beer and good food would probably be easier to convince to make that drive north...if we were ever to make the playoffs ;)
