Are there any folks here who went to the Mary Hardin-Baylor - Central College game and who can comment on a call I heard was masde at the end of that game.  Allegedly Central tyried an onside kick and the kicker was flagged for offside?

I hear a can opener.

After talking to someone on the MWC board and another on the MIAC board, I'm beginning to think that it's just talk at this point and nothing will end up happening regarding a new conference.  And as Cochrane said in that article.  SOMETHING has to be decided, and decided on soon.  I hope Cornell stays, and I think they will.  I get the feeling the administration likes the "idea" of the new conference but that it just won't work out how they would like to see it.

Doolittle, you have the best insight into this discussion.  ++ karma

Hey guys. What's going on?
Hate this time of year. Time for football to start again.

Shouldn't you be out recruiting?  ;)

Oh, you Catholics.

I'm Lutheran, but grew up Presbyterian, and coach for a Catholic school. So as long as you believe in the New Testament I can usually find some common ground.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Let me throw this out there for discussion:

Which is better, 2-0 over some pasties or 0-2 against top level teams?

If your goal is to win the conference, I think the latter. At least you get tested and you learn something about your team.

Pardon me for disagreeing with the guru, but I don't think you can make a definative judgement based only on that. You would have to put it in context of the rest of the season. If you go 2 - 0 against patsies, and win the rest of your games convincingly, I would think that would be better than going 0 - 2 and winning the rest of your games convincingly.

I think the real answer to this may lie in what selection committees do.  According to some of the posts from the D3 gurus, this year's committee valued wins over strength of schedule.  Therefore, any playoff hopes are dashed by going 0-2 against tough non-con opponents.  That would suck, because I agree your better off with the challanges than the patsies in the long run.

Not interested in reopening a debate.  Not m,uch to debate anyway.  If the flag was on the kicker, then it was in error.  What we are tryiong to determine is how we know rthe foul was on the kicker and not on a teammate.  Also I saw a post that said the ball was teed up[ at the 29 for the rekikck.  Is that true also? although I suspect they meant it was rteed up at the 24, not 29, but that would have been wropng also)

Just was watching Cincinnati return a kickoff for a TD.  That Lambert kid sure put the wood on one of the Pittsburgh guys.

Isn't it better to win your conference and not let the selection committee have a chance to screw it up?

I watched most of the first 3 quarters but kept having to chase kids around it seemed like whenever there was a special teams play.  Then missed the 4th quarter while driving to my in-laws.  Sorry I missed spurriers kid getting in some hits...and sorry I missed that incredible comeback.  That has to help the Hawkeyes that Cincy won.  Now if Texas can just hold on and beat Nebraska, I think the Hawkeyes might be able to sneak into a BCS Bowl!!!
