Storm-what?

Simpson lost 12-3. Once again, sounds like offense can't get anything together.

Beavers win in OT - 30-27!  3 game winning streak!

Kemmerer kicks a 47 yarder in OT for the win...did I mention it's nice to have a great kicker? :)

Congrats to the Beavers on the OT win.

Walston,

Whats the take on the game in Waverly.  Pretty close game.  I am surprised you allowed 14 points.  I knew that the D would be the key to a Knight win and it was from the score.

Our game was a tail of turnovers and big defensive stops.  The first drive of the game Dubuque drives to the 11 and turns the ball over on downs.  After that every time Dubuque tried to get something going they would drop a pass or turn the ball over.   Then Bellus makes a huge mistake on the kick off return.  He bobbled the ball then tried to pick it up and bobbled it twice more had to go into the endzone to pick it up retrives it and then tries to bring it out to avoid the safety and then when he gets tackled he fumbles it and the Dutch were there to pounce on it.  HUGE PLAY.  Go from 6-0 to 20-0 in less than 30 seconds was huge.

No turnovers by the Dutch was huge as well.  The Dutch ran down hill all of the second half.  Dubuque just couldn't stop the run.  Way to go Dutch.  Gave all the heart patients a rest.

Way to get it done, Knights.  It was a close one, but I'll take a win any day.

KMack,

I made an executive decision and since you stated you liked Walston Hoover lines I will grant them as your picks.  That made you 3-1 for the week as Luther got beat.  Is that fair?

That was one hard fought victory by the Kohawks today. Simpson kept the score close, but Coe dominated statistically, pounding the ball like I don't recall seeing in the Raeburn era. Of 82 offensive plays (compared to Simpson's 52), 50 were rushes. Ashton Northern was his usual workhorse self, going for 110 tough yards on 32 carries. Jon Rife (6-64 and a TD) and Jase Jensen (4-51) also had nice games, although Bobby Demoulin was a bit off target (17-31 with 1 int). The defense didn't get the shutout they deserved, but give them credit for holding Simpson to 1 for 12 third down conversions.

I can hardly wait for next Saturday. Bring on the Knights!

Somehow someway the Norse need to find a way to win the next three games. From my perception, let me know if i am wrong, the norse have played to the ability of the team they were playing. Points is they could have won, or had the opportunity to win each of the losses but they haven't. No excuses, but the red zone woes have been the down fall of the season. They have made 34 trips to the red zone, and have scored on 70.6% of the trips. Not  good, especially when you consider they have scored td's on fewer than 50% of those trips. On the other side of the ball they have allowed 25 red zone trips and give up scores on 76%. not entirely bad. But, the offense has td's on 15 of 34 trip and the defense has allowed 14 td's in 25 trips. Even though the offense has been able to move the ball quite freely between the 20's for wins to occur the lack of red zone td's must be addressed.

Having a good kicker is key, but as my previous post states the blame clearly lies on the inability of the offense to score td's. congrats to BV, they won as a team.

I have been reading on college football on various sites and after doing so I decided to post my personal mid-season awards and all-conference teams.  Being fairly new to this site, I don't know if this has been done before.  If not, hopefully this starts a trend.  I am also doing this to get responses so post back.

Offensive Player of the Year - Ashton Northern - Coe
He is much less heralded than Suckow, but he is the best back in the conference and he is showing it this year.
Defensive Player of the Year - Andrew Lehn - Central
He has been the best defensive player on the best team thus far so he gets my nod here.
Special Teams Player of the Year - Brant VanMeer - Central
Kills opponents by pinning them in their own end and has the best net yardage per kick in the conference.
Coach of the Year - Osterberger - Loras
The Duhawks are atop the standings at this point and no one thought that they would be there.
Suprise Team - Loras
See the Coach of the Year
Disappointing Team - Luther
Predicted to finish 4th but a tough loss to Coe to start the season hurt them a lot.
Team to Watch For - Luther
Have already played 3 of the top 4 teams
Team that Might Fall - Loras
Have Central, Wartburg and Luther still on the schedule.
Games to Watch - Dubuque @ Central, Loras @ Wartburg, Wartburg @ Coe
Central @ Coe - the last two should decide the conference
Suprise Player - Robert DeMoulin - Coe
Stepped up big after the Kohawks lose a pre-season All-America.  He is 8th in the country in Pass Efficiency.
Disappointing Player - Nate Newmeister - Cornell
Started fast, but injuries have slowed him tremendously.  Not indication of his skill just bad luck.
My Pre-Season All-Conference Team will be posted on Monday.
