Here is what Grand Valley released on their new coach.

Wow, he has an impressive resume. Seems like Cornell should have hired him as their head coach about the time he took the job at Wartburg. Had they seen the potential back then, I am sure they would already be a top contender in the IIAC every year. But, he was young and of course had to "prove" himself first I guess.

Except that Leipold is now a finalist for the Central Missouri job.

The WIAC board has a link that D2 Grand Valley is staying in-house with their coaching hire of DC Matt Mitchell.  Mitchell played college ball at Cornell and coached at Wartburg.

The article mentioned he wants to keep the majority of the staff in place.  Former Wartburg coach Koehler is on staff there.

This should also put to rest any thoughts of Coach Z leaving UD for UWW...even if that was far fetched thinking.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

Hmm, sounds like Leipold definately wants to take his coaching on to the next level.  That is understandible, but with his situation at UWW, I would think he might want to be a bit picky where he heads off to.  Central Mizzou would not be a place I would be in a hurry to run off to.  And I was born in Missouri ::)

I went down there last year to talk to their previous staff. Interesting facilities as far as football offices are concerned, but I can't imagine there are many stadiums better in D2

2002 was Reasland's 1st year with the Rams...so they would have had to lure him away from Wartburg in 2002.

Congratulations to Coach Staker!   :)

Now we have to recruit against "The Best Coach in Division III".   :'(

Good thing we have Coach Mac!

Leach was at IWC when Hal Mumme was the head coach.  That also marks the last time that they actually resembled a football team.

Congrats to Staker -- what a great honor! It's a testament to Coe's fine season.

Congrats NewKnightDad, well played.

Also congrats to Mrs, Doolittle on kicking the double D's rump. I look forward to your analysis of the 2010 season in the pick-ems.

I have Central Michigan tonight and Alabama tomorrow.

Last nights Orange Bowl was fun to watch. Way to go Hawks!!!
Win or lose we still booze!!

I know. Everybody has Central Michigan and no one has enough points left to catch you. Congrats again.

Congratulations to Coach Staker and kudos to all the Kohawk alums that took the time to vote for him.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

DBQ1965

So ... with only Texas-Alabama to go, the results of the IIAC College Bowl Mania are in.  Order of finish is:

NewKnightDad
The_Mayne_Event
IIACThunderbolt
UD Spartans (DBQ 1965)
mrs. doolittle
wbfootballdaddy
doolittle
Purple Heys
Julie Pins

If Bama wins tonight, Julie Pins will jump (maybe I should rephrase that) Purple Heys and move out of last place.

Kudos to all ... and thanks for playing.

Our next contest will be NCAA March Madness.

Only 247 days 'til kickoff!
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Mrs doolittle thinks her points went down.  She says she had Iowa as her 34 pick and it now shows up as 23 on the website.

Either way, she still beat me and keeps finding ways to remind me ::)
