So ... with only Texas-Alabama to go, the results of the IIAC College Bowl Mania are in.  Order of finish is:

NewKnightDad
The_Mayne_Event
IIACThunderbolt
UD Spartans (DBQ 1965)
mrs. doolittle
wbfootballdaddy
doolittle
Purple Heys
Julie Pins

If Bama wins tonight, Julie Pins will jump (maybe I should rephrase that) Purple Heys and move out of last place.

Kudos to all ... and thanks for playing.

Our next contest will be NCAA March Madness.

Only 247 days 'til kickoff!

I've already conceded defeat....Ouch. This is what happens when I work every Saturday, I suppose.

My vote for the luckiest team of 2010 is for the Alabama Crimson Tide. No way they win if Colt McCoy is healthy.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

I knew this would happen as soon as they showed him walking without his pads on. There's no real way of knowing what the outcome would've been but it does give people like us the opportuninty to throw our opinions around.

In somewhat IIAC football related info.  Former UD assistant Jim Leavitt was fired from South Florida today.

Did anyone else see Freddie in the stands when they showed a bunch of Texas fans late in the 4th quarter? I thought it was Patrick when we saw it live but after we hit rewind on the ol' DVR, everyone in the room said it was Freddie.

apparently the Coe College alumni director also got tickets to the game after awards ceremony for Coach Staker.

Fred Jackson was named MVP of the Buffalo Bills.

By the time the 2009 campaign was over Jackson became the first player in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards and have 1,000 kick return yards in the same season.

Jackson's all-purpose yardage total of 2,516 yards also led the league as he became just the sixth player in NFL history to accumulate 2,500 yards or more all-purpose yards in a season. His total of 2,516 is the fourth best all-time.

Way to go Freddie.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Wow, with so few DIII guys making it in the NFL, how awesome is it that two IIAC teams have had former players named as an NFL team MVP?  Den Herder got the same recognition when he played for the Dolphins.  Pretty impressive!

Congratulations Freddie!

Thanks for the link. That's outstanding.
Two words:  THE STREAK

footballdaddy

My son heard today that former All-Conference DE Nico Botembe died today of Lupus. Let's all say a prayer for his family. No one should pass away at 25.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

doolittledog

Sad news.  Our prayers are with the Botembe family.

Klompen

My condolences to the Botembe family and to Nico's friends.  It is a true tragedy when these young students and grads die before their time.  Central lost a current student and a recent alumnus within the last month or so.  Very sad, my thoughts and prayers to all the families and close friends.

Purple Heys

My prayers go out to his family.  This is very sad to hear.
You can't leave me....all the plants will die.
