Cornell released their 2010 schedule, which I believe makes them the 4th conference team to do so after Central, Dubuque, and Luther...

09/04  North Central  1:00 p.m.
09/11  @  Macalester  1:00 p.m.
09/18  @  Wartburg   1:00 p.m.
09/25  @   Dubuque  7:00 p.m.  (Dubuque schedule lists this as a 1pm start)
10/02  Central  1:00 p.m.
10/09  @  Luther  1:00 p.m. (Luther Homecoming)
10/16  Buena Vista 1:00 p.m. (Cornell Homecoming)
10/23  Bye Week
10/30  Simpson  1:00 p.m.
11/06  @  Loras  1:00 p.m.
11/13  Coe  1:00 p.m.

I originally thought of putting a scholarship option in there.  But then thought with this being D3 that wouldn't be a good idea.

Here is a question about scholarships.  Most schools will have different scholarships set up, such as you can donate to a scholarship that gives out 1 scholarship per year to a kid from Black Hawk county or what not.  Can a school just load those up with football players or what are the rules?  If a football player has all the requirements to get that scholarship as another kid that doesn't play football what happends?
You could not just load up the football player.  You would need to treat the students with the same eligibility relatively the same in DIII.  An athlete and non-athlete with similar financial need and academic ability have to have similar awards.  So while you can pick and choose the names of what each student might get, the free money portion and favorable loan or work options have to be awarded without regard to athletic ability, unless you go to Wartburg.

Fixed it for you...   :D
I was trying not to state the obvious.   ;) ;)

I'd start Kohawk Rugby and put in a pitch with H's at each end, and not defile it with either Football or Futbol lines.

There's a party at the ruck boys!
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

That just leaves the Rugby Union vs. Rugby League devotees to fight it out over use of the pitch ;D

If you build pubs at all four corners of your Kohawk Rugby pitch I will be there early and often ;)

Doodog, nice try, but you didn't look at the subtleties of my post.

There is no rucking in Rugby League.

North Central at home to start the season. I guess no cupcake for the Rams to start 2010.

I agree, very interesting match up. I wonder if North Central was scheduled prior to Coach B taking over as head coach or if he scheduled them  ???

On one hand, you  would wonder why in the heck cornell would schedule an opponent in which they seemingly have a 1% chance of beating?

On the other hand, could be a psychological move. If Coach B loses, nobody expected him to win so no big deal. If he wins, then it could be a program changer. Beat a respectable opponent to open the season and you most certainly win at least a few IIAC games. Had this game been scheduled last year-suicide. Had this game been scheduled mid-season, suicide.

But, to start the season with a new head coach, it's win-win proposition EVEN if they lose because nobody expects them to win! I put this as the most interesting match up to open the IIAC season. We all know that when a new regimine takes over, there is a new added excitement and anticipation for what can be.....

And many times that translates into some early season success. Then, one of 2 things will happen after the excitement of anew wears off..... 1.) They lose bad or get beat a couple times in a row and the inflated confidence comes crashing down OR 2.) they lose but come back and win some big games mid or late season and prove that success is truley on the brink......

Willie, you make some good points. I think win or lose, this game still gets them ready for 8 tough IIAC games. I'm looking forward to the Brautigum Era in Mount Vernon.

I like the non-conference schedule for the Rams.  Both games will provide challenges.  How will they compete in a game most folks expect them to lose and how will they fare in a game they should be expected to win?

I wish Jr. had another year to help them find out.

I am excited to see Coach B. make his mark at the hilltop.
You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

An opening on the Wartburg staff :-[

Tim Morrison has resigned to accept a position as offensive line coach at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. Wartburg College is accepting applications for a full-time assistant football coach.
