An opening on the Wartburg staff :-[

Tim Morrison has resigned to accept a position as offensive line coach at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. Wartburg College is accepting applications for a full-time assistant football coach.

Paging Walston Hoover, pick up line one

Looks like GVSU is becoming Wartburg North.

I think Reed Hoskins has the potential to be a good OC. I hope he gets a look.

I agree that Reed should get a good look as OC.  We need a solid O-Line coach since Coach Mo also held those duties.
Win or lose we still booze!!

From the article:
"Waldstein said the entire campus community is responsible for retention."

Does this mean the non-athletes have to kick in $$ for the Kanigget athlete kick-backs too???   :D :D

8-)  Did I mention it's sunny here in Oceanside?

Wartburg has to keep the retention high so they can keep paying their bills :P

I kid, I kid

It's been sunny here as well PH, the problem is that it's also been about 5 degrees above 0...so there you go.

That was just low. Me and the Oceanside weather have been apart too long.

North Central at home to start the season. I guess no cupcake for the Rams to start 2010.

I agree, very interesting match up. I wonder if North Central was scheduled prior to Coach B taking over as head coach or if he scheduled them  ???

On one hand, you  would wonder why in the heck cornell would schedule an opponent in which they seemingly have a 1% chance of beating?

On the other hand, could be a psychological move. If Coach B loses, nobody expected him to win so no big deal. If he wins, then it could be a program changer. Beat a respectable opponent to open the season and you most certainly win at least a few IIAC games. Had this game been scheduled last year-suicide. Had this game been scheduled mid-season, suicide.

But, to start the season with a new head coach, it's win-win proposition EVEN if they lose because nobody expects them to win! I put this as the most interesting match up to open the IIAC season. We all know that when a new regimine takes over, there is a new added excitement and anticipation for what can be.....

And many times that translates into some early season success. Then, one of 2 things will happen after the excitement of anew wears off..... 1.) They lose bad or get beat a couple times in a row and the inflated confidence comes crashing down OR 2.) they lose but come back and win some big games mid or late season and prove that success is truley on the brink......

And maybe Dillon scheduled it on his way out the door to dick over the new guy...

sportsknight, I know you're probably joking but I doubt that Dillon would do that to his alma mater.

I had heard that North Central had been after us for a game for some time...and we weren't renewing with either Grinnell or Carleton.  They for sure wanted a team like Macalester that would give us a good opportunity to get a W.

And I know your comment was in fun...  :)

But for the record, from what I know of Matt Dillon after 4 years of interacting with him, despite whatever the circumstances of his leaving Cornell might have been, he would NEVER do anything to screw with Cornell.  He's a good guy that did the best he could but unfortunately it didn't go the way he, or the rest of us Ram fans, had hoped.  Before it was announced he was leaving the school, I got a chance to sit down and eat a meal with the man, and he loved that school and being it's Head Football Coach.  I am sure, when all is said and done, that he hopes for the best for the team in the coming years.

Any Iowa kids announce their "committment" to any IIAC teams this week?

Wait a minute...isn't GVSU's HC a Cornell grad...and isn't Wartburg's HC a Cornell grad?

Seems to me Wartburg is North Mount Vernon.
