A few things to add here.  Most parents of players here did not attend an IIAC school.  Of course we all support our children.  Everyone of us is clearly on record about that.  Yes, I would likely put on a Central sweatshirt while watching my kids play there if it came to that.  I do think I would still put on a Dubuque sweatshirt while Central played my Spartans, and I would cheer both schools during that game.  I went to UD.  I will still be a fan of UD as well as whatever school my children end up at.  Willie has said he would still wear Spartan Blue while cheering on his son at that different school.  Willie also PLAYED FOOTBALL AT UD.  He is a little more vested in his alma mater than most others on here.  Willie is known well enough on here for us to know he is a family man and would support his son.  If he still wears Spartan colors that is fine by me.  I understand it.  I would also think he and his son would have a lot of fun at home ribbing each other about how the game that year turned out.

Also, I had always thought people liked heading down to Pella to watch winning football and to load up on Dutch Letters.  I was unaware that the real draw to Central Football was Dutchie putting on a show afterwards :o

Grandma Warthog was supportive of off-spring at Wartburg and UIU, but I always thought she preferred putting on that UD jacket and visiting the U of Dubuque campus.  Lets just say once we graduated she didn't visit Wartburg or UIU again, but she would go to Dubuque for UD events regularly.

Doolittle makes some great points and so does Warthog, DF2004, I am not so sure about  :o

I ask you FBdaddy and DF2004, did you attend wartburg or central? My assumption is that neither of you did. So, you are basing your support and the wearing of "other schools" colors because of where your children went to college. That is easy to do and even if you had 2 or more children attending different IIAC schools. The X factor for you guys is you did not attend an IIAC school.

I think Warthog's example of his mother is the closest I could come to making you realize my feelings. As I said, I would support them no matter what. But, at this point, and I have MANY years before my son goes to college, I cannot see myself ever putting on a wartburg t-shirt or any other rival school for that matter. Like I said, I wouldn't miss a game and cheer with the best of them but it would be in neutral colors or UD only. If parents don't like it, so what as far as I am concerned. I would have no problem explaining my support for my son AND my loyalty to my alma mater which I am more vested in as Doolittle mentioned.

Now, IF my son ASKED me to wear something, I wouldn't think twice about it. I would do it in a heartbeat. However, I think he will grow up knowing where my heart is. HOPEFULLY, this is NEVER an issue and he plays for the Hawkeyes or Spartans, Enough Said.

Good night,

A friend of mine just returned from a business trip to Europe.  While there he took in some soccer matches.

Apparently there is some big deal soccer thing going on in Europe right now.  This morning at our breakfast group gathering he presented me with an orange & black Holland cap.  Apparently, like their Winter Olympics team, the Dutch Soccer team favors the colors of the Wartburg Knights.  So go ahead Central fans, be real Dutch, wear orange and black instead of tulip red.

(This message brought to you by The Committee to Reconcile Willie U & footballdaddy)

The Dutch wearing orange and black during the winter Olympics may be the reason why the skater ended up going in the wrong lane. Just like if you were to go to Wartburg?  :o :o :o :o

You have until the first tip-off on Thursday, so don't take too long.

Hey, if no one else signs up...I'm assured the Bronze!!!   ;D ;D ;D

I've pretty much already accepted my wife will kick my butt in the Tournament Challenge.  To go along with her beating me in the Bowl Pick-Em earlier this year.  But I might be able to beat that old man DBQ1965 ;)

Would the posters on this board give me your advice (best guess) on the NCAA D1 MBB "elite eight" for my office pool?  I can fillout the brackets backwards and forward from that.  I watched so little college basketball this season, I have no idea what I'm doing.  It is most likely going to be a $5.00 donation from me, but I hate to be dead last in the contest.  I'm so out of the loop, I was surprised which teams were in the tournament and how they were seeded.

The Committee has been pretty smart lately.  Take all of the 1's and 2's except swap Pitt for Kansas State.

Beware to any of those out there filling out a bracket.  I picked Kansas to win it all this year.  Dating back to the 1986 tourney, I have NEVER picked the eventual winner.  There have been years I was in 1st place after every round, only to lose in the end because I can never pick the winner of the tourney.

On a side note.  Anyone out there have any news for when spring practice starts for IIAC schools???

It would be nice to have an Offensive Coordinator before spring practice.  A new quarterback and a new OC for the Knights could make things a little rocky next fall. It will be a real disadvantage if the two, yet to be named individuals, don't start spending some quality time together now.

I say give the keys to Reed Hoskins and let him do what he does best.
