Hope Luther does well at Nationals.

The IIAC may be the toughest softball conference in the nation...maybe.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I do not know Mr. Yin or his family, but I having a child that age I cannot imagine the pain his family and team family are suffering.

Yet another tragedy for Grinnell College. It looks like the young man fit a lot of living in a too short life. My prayers to his family and friends.

footballkid's knee surgery went well but his playing days are over. We all have mixed emotions but realize this is best since he will need his knee much longer that his football career.

FD - I am sorry to read about this regarding FK.  Pass along to him my support for his full recovery to an active lifestyle and that he keep involved.  Back in the day, when men were men and sheep were nervous, I suffered an ACL blowout and the 12 inch post-surgical scar on my left knee signified the end of my collegiate career; but I got into coaching and have had many rewarding years whether it was interscholastic athletics or rec leagues.  I had great times and I have great memories...I even played in more than a few rec leagues with a huge knee brace.  With today's surgical techniques, he's should be able to participate at some level...and I encourage him to find his level and have a great time.

You can't leave me....all the plants will die.

Anybody have any day brighteners?

Mind if I indulge?

Senorita Heys competed in her 1st ever Heptathlon and finished 8th in the Big West Conference with 4445 points.  That total would have been good for 2nd in the IIAC and a D3 provisional qualifier.  Further she appears to be a NCAA D1 West Regional qualifier in the High Jump at 5'8"   :)

The only bad news...the Regionals are in Texas at the same time as Jr.'s graduation ceremonies at Cornell.  I had already purchased her plane tickets to Iowa (what kind of Dad am I to not show confidence  :-[ ).

We are very proud of her...especially proud of her is big bro.   ;D

Thanks everyone for the good wished for FK. He's already landed on his feet, so to speak. He was already scheduled to intern this summer at Iowa State in the football department with a possibility of being a grad assistant next year. We just heard today that he will be the Knight's offensive student coach for his senior season.

Although no one is owed anything in this life, it appears that football is paying him back in it's own way.

That means that you all aren't rid of me just yet, unless someone wants to challenge for the title of the Biggest Jerk on the board!

Nice try.   ;D

Actually, I'll have to think about the logistics.  I precooked what I sent to Jr. and pack in dry ice and shipped UPS overnight.  I don't think having a 10 pound package with offgassing dry ice and residual smoke coming from my luggage would go over too well with the TSA.   :D

Hey PH ... I had just checked the 49ers web-site the other day (my little brother was a half-miler for Long Beach back in the 70's) and saw where Ms. Macey was having a good season.  Good to see you are still with us on here.  Best wishes for the Regionals and for the graduation trip.

Good Luck to Luther @ D3 Softball finals starting tomorrow.

A little IIAC revenge against Linfield would be nice. ;D ;D ;D
Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

My daughter and I just got back from watching the UD Concert Choir perform in my home town of La Porte City.  We were treated to an outstanding performance.  Some truely amazing talent on stage tonight.  And judging by some of the conversations I heard amongst them during the break they could probably use a chaperone like back in the days when DBQ1965 was on staff ;D ;D ;D  There weren't any UD football players in the choir though.  No UD version of Walston Hoover on display!!!
