Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning is good on about everything but ice cream. As a change-up I like Cavender's Greek Seasoning.

Maybe I will have to sample everybody's favorite tailgating food this fall, just to see how truly great they are.  Have beer, will travel ;D

And, you know, hopefully see some UD wins along the way.  As ever, hopefully optimistic Spartan fan!!!

OK, I get that but what happens between tax cut now and when one can actually see improvement 5-7 years down the road? Somewhere, somehow somone has to raise taxes just to maintain the staus quo. So now my kids are going to a community college instead of the IIAC until the econmy improves and by then it's too late.

Holy Cow - I agree with FBDaddy on something!  By the way, your equal treatment example probably does not prove either way who buys athletes, anybody with a 4.0 that participates in any activity is a prized recruit most anyway.  What school would not have offered a big package to such a potential student.

I do know of a player who's bench press was a lot better than his GPA who got almost exactly the same offer from Coe that FK got. I'm just sayin'.

That is EXACTLY the way I felt on Saturday. Amazing what a few wrinkles and grey hairs can do to your perception on things  ;)

I never had tolerance for drunk 21 year olds, even when I was 21. If you can't hold your liquor get out of my way.

So I leave all of you now with a thought till our next meeting....
Why does Wartburg have their recruits sign a 'letter of intent'?
They want to see if he at least has the ability to write his name!
  :o

Actually if the kid has a fast 40 time, owns a great vertical leap and can bench press a VW Bug we don't care about his ability to write.  An "x" will do.   :-*

I was kind of hesitant on replying, but Wartburg seems to need as much help as possible....

A fast 40 - Wartburg should stop looking at players that can just do the 40yards and focus more on those that can do maybe 80 yards. This way you might get closer to the goal line.

Great vertical leap – Quit worrying about the players going up and down. Concentrate more on the back and forth. So when they do get closer to the goal line they will learn how to go across the goal line.

Bench pressing a VW Bug – I wouldn't really consider the players playing with VW Bug Hotwheels between practices bench pressing?

An X will do – I was just trying to be polite. I knew there probably was an X

I hope this helps. ;D

Dubuque Telegraph-Herald story on the Cedar Rapids Headhunters Rugby FC finishing 3rd at nationals.
Is this the team coocoo manages and CaliRam plays for???
If so, good job!!!

Didn't you hear CaliRam and I on 102.9 on Memorial Day morning?

FYI, I played 5 minutes in the third place game so I don't just manage the team.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I found a story about the bizarre world of college scholarships.

http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/CollegeAndFamily/CutCollegeCosts/wacky-world-of-college-scholarships.aspx

There are scholarships out there for milk mustaches, being tall, being vegan, bagpipe playing, and having the last name of Zolp.

And good job coocoo for still playing rugby ;D

Love the Coach Finstock quote. One of my favorite movie lines.  Teen Wolf is underated and is a classic.

Thought you might find it interesting the story behind the man that played the teen wolf (other than MJ Fox of course).

The cast director went to a local college and asked the head coach if he had any one on the team that matched Michael J Fox's physical appearance. The coach so happen to have someone. He then asked the basketball player to do a quick audition, if that's what you want to call it. The director liked what he seen and two weeks later he was on the set with MJ Fox.

I know this because he is the vice principal at my sons' school. Mostly I thought you would want to know that he is a super good person. (nothing worse than finding out that an actor/person is a jerk)

He told me the story just as simple as I wrote it to you. No acting experience and never did a film after. He said he was just in the right place at the right time. He did add that MJ Fox is an awesome person just as you see on TV.

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Some trivia:

Watching the Big10 Network tonight and they had highlights of the '53 football season (MSU and Illinois co-champs) ... and several quarterbacks had "non-traditional" QB numbers on their jerseys.

Anyone recall any IIAC QB whose number wasn't in the 1-19 range?
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Dubuque Telegraph-Herald article on the Dubuque Bruisers semi-pro team starting up their second season.

The Bruisers will be replacing UD product Jermar Jackson at QB.  Jermar is off to Germany after signing with the Stuttgart Scorpions.  Former Loras WR Eric Meyer will be playing for the Dubuque Bruisers this year.

Were there any QB in the IIAC from your days at UD that wore non traditional numbers?  Or should I say...Can you remember any QB's wearing non-traditional numbers from you days at UD?  ;D ;D ;D

And do you have any weird stories from your days up in the press box for UD???
