dowjone$,

easy on dutchfan1; she's been around here much longer than you. . .
i appreciate your enthusiasm for the spartan program, but try a little tenderness my brother. . .by the way. . .your spelling is improving and your sentence structure is recognizable. . .
Why the defense ain't werkin'?

sc_stormchaser

Hawks4life - do you know much about Simpson's team this year? I noticed that Carl Duffy only had one carry in the first game. Was he hurt? Hadn't he been the starting RB the past 2 years? I noticed that it was a freshman that had all of the carries. Just curious.

I hope your right about the game on Saturday - Go Storm!

Confused77

Miss a few days and miss a lot.

Dowjone$-- you make me laugh. UD is probably much improved, but Blackburn is TERRIBLE, they should not score a point on any IIAC team. They shouldn't score a point on any IIAC JV team. Just keep the funny posts up. I am already eagerly awaiting your posts prior to the UD/Loras game.

lorbec47

Confused, I don't even want to see how bad the trashtalkin' will be before the UD/Loras game. DowJones, I hope that all the UD players play with as much emotion as you show!

WartTrainer

Hawk4life...c'mon now, the Knights have had little tape on its first two opponents and that could be part of the reason for the poor showings.  Also some of the injured guys from wartburg are going to try and play this week which will help out the offense, one of them being Hammes who hasnt played a snap in a game this year.  Also i am pretty sure coach Willis and the rest of the defensive staff have a few tricks up there sleeve for the pass happy Simpson attack, they always seem to.  I would also like to point out that the offensive line from Simpson last year looked horrible at times with the blitz package that Warturg schemed up and with the graduation of your best o-lineman your QB could be hurting come end of the 1st qtr.

Knights 38
Storm 14

Pakk

Wart trainer, what will be your excuse if Simpson wins?

It could go either way, but I don't by the not having enough tape thing.

sc_stormchaser

Not enough tape?? Seriously? That's a horrible excuse. I'm certainly not saying that Simpson will win this weekend (and if they get beat, I won't make up outlandish excuses). Hopefully Simpson can get off to a quick start and get Wartburg rattled early. If not, it might be a long day for the Storm.

Charlie Kohawk

CooCoo -- we're on the same team, but apparently not the same page. I think you ought to see a game in person before you report with any authority what kind of offense the Kohawks are using. After witnessing Coe's first two contests, I have no doubt Suckow will get his opportunities, but they may be limited out of the backfield.
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Spartan..Stang79

Hey IIAC fans, another Spartan fan on the board. Atta boy ty AKA dow, keep shaking things up, good luck this week everyone, and Lets Go Spartans get after those norse.

coocooforcoekohawk

CHARLES,
I was at the Westminster game with my radio, and Thurness said Coe was in a spread offense.  My point was that Suckow and Northern are both on the field at the same time.  I'm just a former swimmer from Coe that enjoys the Kohawks, I am not able to identfy formations when I stand at ground level, If Bob was incorrect on the broadcast take it up with him.
Do you know if Blake Borret is around at all this year, he broke my 100 freestyle record last year and I would like to meet him.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I hope you guys don't think Central used its best stuff in the first two practice games.  I am anticipating great things from the Dutch on the home turf now when it counts.  From what I read, a big part of Coe's offense is a speedy running back.  If they are sharp, the Central grounds crew has been letting the Kuyper Stadium grass grow.  I think it is called, The Prairie Strategy.

WartTrainer:

I have to agree with sc-stormchaser:  Don't try the Wartburg didn't have tape story.  Some of our recent teams would have rolled over this addition of Augsburg.  Truth is Wartburg might not be as good as we were hoping.  This week will tell us much.
A win and you will find the Knights occupying first or second chair at season's end.  ;D  :) :D :-* 8)
A loss and Katie bar the door, it will be a long season. :'(

Pakk and stormchaser,
There was no tape for the Wartburg defense to watch for Augsburg. There is a new head coach up there that comes from an arena league backround. After the first series Augsburg brought in (one of) their national champion wrestlers who was listed as a wide receiver to play quaterback. He was quicker than anyone on the Knights D and the defensive game plan was scrapped. So while not having enough tape may not be an excuse try not having any tape. I'm sure you guys have played the game, and know what it's like not having any clue what the other team may do. This team is not yet as good as other Knight teams that may have rolled in the past, and this week will go a long ways in figuring out how far they have to go. For now I'll take last week's win.
You come to Wartburg to play for championships

the_wing_t

Okay, enough with the Wartburg fans shedding tears about not having any tape to watch....it may have been A factor, but it probably wasn't THE factor in the game's outcome.  I think we can all agree on that.

I love my Dutch to death, and they're off to a 2-0 start, but the D will have to stiffen up if they plan on winning close games from here on out.

Speaking of 2-0 teams, why isn't the defending IIAC co-champ Coe team getting any respect in the Top 25 ranking?  Central deserves some mention, yes, but Coe is building on what they did last year - and to me that deserves more recognition than two close wins over quality opponents.

And last but not least......I'll give a "thumbs up" to DowJone$ for trying to put a little humor on the board.....we need a wisecracker on this board to lighten things up a bit and stir the pot.  I'm afraid I'll have to call his bluff and say I think he's a white boy trying to speak (type) jive......when he's not "aw yeeaahing" his grammar is way too proper (like using the 'comma, conjunction' properly twice in his letter).  Way to go, but I'm calling B.S. on you.

Great weekend shaping up in the IIAC - Coe/Central and Simpson/Wartburg....two BIG games there, and on the same weekend???  We'll know a lot more about who's for real after this weekend.

And LAST......since I live in Georgia now and didn't get the game last Saturday on ABC (got to watch Ga. Tech / UNC instead.....yippee), can anyone tell me what the H-E-L-L went on in Ames?  Just when I think the Hawks couldn't do anything dumb, they go and pull one of these games and totally redeem themselves.....gosh, I feel like a Cubs fan right now........

Freebird

I was very suprised the IIAC got no love in the ranking this week.
