Congrats to Wart Jr.!! I know how relieved you and the Mrs. are. After a summer of interviews, AEN Jr. (also WC grad) got a job yesterday as an account rep and will be staying in Waverly and calling on clients in NE Ia, his boss will be in DM. I guess I'll have to mow my own yard now.
Give my congrats to Jr. I talked with him briefly a couple of weeks ago; I am sure the whole AEN household is feeling a little lighter now. Since he is still in the Wav, maybe you can trade mowing for some laundry service!! That would be a good deal for all (except the Mrs)!!

Did you get a chance to talk to Coach Zweifel while you were on campus?

Sounds like the most important preseason poll is coming out this week.  By that, I mean the one here on D3Football.com.  Anyone have predictions on where any IIAC teams will be?

I'm guessing #9 for the Dutch and #14 for the Kohawks.  I'm sure someone voted for Wartburg, but not enough to get them in the Top 25.

That will be great because then we will have some actual football to talk about.  My guess is Central will fall somewhere between 8-12...Coe will fall somewhere between 16-20.  Wartburg will fall into the "RV" part of the poll.

Then we will have days of talk on here about who got too much respect.  Who didn't get respect from the pollsters.  And the always popular..."I'm glad we're not rated...this will serve to motivate our players." type posts ;D

After a few days of that it's on to "who's started camp?"  What kind of numbers did you bring in for freshmen this year?  Do we have a good class of talent?  And, as always..."I know we've sucked for 20+ years...but I really think this is our year"  :P

Along the same lines, I know there's been some discussion as to the quality of the IIAC team capsules in Kickoff over the past few years and because of that, I am writing IIAC team capsules personally. I promise a better product than in the past.

If you read last year's Central capsule, that's one I wrote. They'll all be similar to that one.

Been a while guys and girls. A lot of changes in my life. Pretty interesting last few months.
Saw one preason poll with central at 10 and Coe at 20.

Oh great!  The guru of D3 is going to do the write up for Central.  I figure Pat's analysis is worth 7 points to UW Oshkosh in the season opener.  He's bound to give away all of McMartin's secrets.  Why not just photo copy the playbook and pass that around?

But will Pat have space to count all of Wartburg's national letters of intent?
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Wartburg pre-season preview

http://www.go-knights.net/cms/Article.aspx?ID=4478

"While we all understand that our finish last year had many highlights and kept (our consecutive winning season run) going, it wasn't what we've come to expect," head coach Rick Willis said. "Our returners have worked hard and are motivated to compete for a championship. We have outstanding leadership on this team headed by our senior captains Austin Cole of Manchester, Morgan O'Connor of Fort Dodge, Jon Mallen of Britt, and Andrew Creary of Knoxville.

"The 2010 season will be both exciting and challenging," he added. "Our tradition will be highlighted as we celebrate the 75th season of Wartburg football. Our non-conference schedule will certainly test us early, and the Iowa Conference will be as tough as ever."

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.
