I will agree with what daddy is saying. Wartburg has caught flack for the amount of kids that they brought in before. Heck I might have ridiculed them about it.  I don't believe in the philosophy. Please don't think I am firing up on UD. I am really impressed with what they have done and I see them as scary team with Z running the show. Buy how many of the 170 have any talent?  It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

All 170 could have talent...but only 50-60 will ever see any playing time.  I don't really get it, but I figure Coach Z knows a whole lot more about his team than any of us.  I'm just ready to see it all play out on the field 4 weeks from now.

The key for the college is that they are all paying tuition, so welcome aboard however many shall come!  If you don't think bringing men to campus is part of every football coach's written or unwritten job description in the IIAC, you are kidding yourselves.

Mr. Ypsi

That's true pretty much everywhere in d3, not just the IIAC.

Many, many schools are at 60-40 women over men, or sometimes well beyond that.

Do we give Central the trophy now, or go through the motions of the season?
Let's go through the motions, Central football is my favorite part of the year.  Last year I actually enjoyed basketball season too!  Well, half of it.   ;)

Was Coe a one hit wonder? - No, they will be a tough team to beat.

How does Wartburg bounce back after a sup-par season while having to replace Nick Yordi? - I think this is the year that WB slips down to 4th, even with Rick Willis at the helm.

Will the thousands of Spartan recruits make for a change in conference standings? - Doolittle needs to give Dutch fans more credit.  I think UD is the team that bumps WB down in the rankings.  They have a coach with a strong background of success, a play maker at wide receiver with a coach and QB willing to call his number for passing practice, exceptional new facilities, more players (even if it is anyone's guess as to how many).  Things look good in UD land.  They are a team that I much prefer to play at home, fewer OTs that way.   ;)

Are BV Luther and Loras so far under the radar that they crash?  I see 4-6 for both of them, maybe worse.

Will a new coach produce different results for the Rams?  -  Yes.  Coach B can do it, but it won't happen overnight.  Give him time and he will produce results.  I just don't know if the school will stick around in our conference.

Will anyone ever say anything nice about Simpson?- Maybe, but they won't be from Central.   ;D ;D

DutchFan2004

As far as predictions go for the conference I would go with

1 Central, not because I root for the Dutch but because they have so many returning starters and they are coming off a 10-0 regular season.

2 and 3 the winner of Wartburg/Coe will be in second with the other team coming in 3rd.

4th, 5th, 6th will be UD, Luther, or Simpson

7th, 8th will be Loras or BV

and sorry Purple Heys Cornell 9th.

I could see BV climbing up a few notches and Luther or Simpson falling some those two teams seem to be up and down and you never know what they will be like.  I would throw BV in that group as well.  When the schedule favore BV they seem to play well till they get to the meat of their schedule and they come back to Earth.  I agree with Warthog though lets play the games and see where they wind up.  No team is guaranteed a W in the IIAC.  Even Cornell can come out with some W's and upset a team or two.

Just got back from our last Wartburg check-in day.Expecting about 130 in camp. Lokks like the returning players have been busy in the off season. We'll see how camp progresses.

FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

BTW, if anyone who's ever played football on any level can listen to Kenny Chesney's "Boys of Fall" and not well up inside must not have a heart. It is the essence of what football is played for.

I heard "The Boys of Fall" today for the first time and you are correct it makes a fella emotional.  I was at check in as well yesterday in Waverly, long day but got everything moved in and my son is ready for camp.

Monmouth for an opener will be a great challenge!!!!
Win or lose we still booze!!

Our family was at Adventureland today.

IIAC sightings were 1 man with a Wartburg hat as we entered.  A girl in a Simpson shirt around lunch time.  And there was a young woman with a Coe volleyball windbreaker we saw near the Tornado late in the evening.

I was surprised to only spot 1 person wearing UNI clothing.  I was also surprised to see Hawkeye attire out drew ISU by at least 10-1 on the day.

Rum, Gin, Scotch, Whisky, Bourbon, Beer...it's all good for me...especially if you include wings and other assorted meats.  And speaking of alcohol...this morning I noticed the building across the street from my office had sold.  I asked my boss about it and she told me a BREWERY is going to open up in there.  Less than a month until opening kickoff and there is also a brewery opening up across the street from where I work...life is good ;D ;D ;D

Are there any openings at your place of work?  I don't know how much work I would get done, but that new business across the street from you would definitely stay in business.

Well things definitely have been extra busy up north here for me, hopefully I can keep up with the D3 football this year.  At least keep up with IIAC news and games.  Preseason camp is in full swing here at the local D2 school.  With school starting next week it just makes me want that first game to get here even more.

Good Luck to all of the IIAC schools this year, expect when you play Wartburg of course.  Extra good luck to you whenever you face off against those Norse.

If you have the chance to see the full video for this song, do it.Sean Payton gives a great talk to a high school team, but the highlight is seeing Bear Bryant.

Our local highlight is the "Last Play" pep talk being given by local legend Ed Burke of Torrey Pines High School.  Ed retired a couple of years ago but man that guy could coach.  His teams executed with a level of precision, and played with a fire that belied those kids' otherwise cushy upbringing...Torrey Pines is a very well to do area.

Ed Burke was one of those coaches that can take "his'n and beat your'n and take your'n and beat his'n."  (Thanks Bum)

I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

KCRG TV story about fire at Cornell Small Athletic center Saturday

No truth to the rumor that the distinct smell of burning crunchberries was detected by witnesses... :D

Must have started in the weight room as 50 players fought to lift the college's one weight. ::) ;D
