Give us an update...I am starving for info

When I got there they were doing situations like goal line, etc.. So I was only able to stay for about 20-25 game minutes but got to see the 1st teams and a little of the 2nd teamers. Very nice crowd for a scrimmage and what a beautiful afternoon. I will be interested to see how Central stacks up against UW-Oshkosh in their 1st game. But, man, am I ready for kickoff next Thursday night!!!

Go Spartans!!

I woke up at 2:30 and decided to glance at the D3 Kickoff before heading back to sleep.  Two hours later I'm still absorbing information from this year's issue.  My congratulations to Pat, Keith and the whole gang for a great source of D3 football information.

WCF Courier report on Wartburg Media day
http://wcfcourier.com/sports/college/article_61c2e0b6-b184-11df-91d6-001cc4c03286.html

"At the forefront is quarterback, where record-setting signal caller Nick Yordi is gone after throwing for 5,364 yards and 41 touchdowns the past two seasons.

Three players have risen to the top after a 100-snap scrimmage last Sunday and those three will rotate today in a controlled scrimmage with Wisconsin-Platteville.

Dan Stiefel, a junior from Sterling Heights, Mich., Mike Sosnowski, a senior from Eldridge and Ryan Wurtz, a sophomore from Milford, are vying to run Wartburg's no-huddle offense."

Does everyone but Central have a "media day"?

I get tired of reading the DM Register and only hearing about the "big" 3, plus Drake and Grandview. I'm ok with the coverage Iowa, ISU, and UNI get, by what makes Drake and Grand View so dam important, theres much better football being played in the IIAC. Throw some more coverage our way!

Good luck with that. The only way we get any coverage is IF one of the big 3 have a bye and IF the other two have away night games and IF there is absolutly no other sports going on and IF it's a slow news day and IF Central or Simpson have a home game we might get to see about 7 seconds of video. We're lucky to get 2 column inches in the register on Sunday. In 2008 Wartburg actually got some playoff coverage on WHO because the only guy there on Saturday thought it might have been a good story. The sports anchors always drag out the answer that there is not enough interest to warrant coverage. If there was more coverage, there would be more interest.

Isn't it about half-way on the trip they get to make next week to Pella?  I thought I  heard that those cheesehead schools had some travel restriction put on them.  But they have to let them get to Pella Friday don't they?  Otherwise they will have to get on the bus in Oshkosh at about two in the morning Satuday.  I'm glad for my team to have the home field advantage but not to the point that the other guys fall asleep in the third quarter.

True story, just frusterating when I know that top tier IIAC teams (Central, Coe, Wartburg) would regularly knock off Drake/Grand View!

Iowa is a neighboring state. I don't believe the WIAC travel restrictions come into play there.

Michigan high school football opened this week.  I went to my first high school game of the season tonight ... some ragged edges but a good game over all.

It put me in the mood to see some D3 football ... so I think I will make the drive (7 hours one way) over to Dubuque next Thursday and watch the Spartans launch a successful season.

GO BLUE! (and I don't mean michigan)

Ah, the advantages of being retired...mid-week football games a 7 hour drive from home.  Hope you have a great time.  My wife and I were looking forward to dropping our kids off at my in-laws and spending the weekend in Dubuque...until the game got switched to Thursday night.  Oh well, we still get to spend the homecoming weekend there.

Better take your wife with you.  That way if you are having a great time there with old friends, enjoying a Spartan victory, admiring the look of the campus, and then President Bullock offers you a job as school chaplain...she can grab you and say "oh no you don't...we're staying in Michigan"  ;D ;D ;D

Kicked off the high school season last night with a victory.  ;D
