http://www.central.edu/athletics/story.cfm?storyID=3052 will take you to the Central pre-game write-up.

Central College football fans never hide on this board, just ask any Wartburg fans.    ;)

Please do not talk about comparing Central football to Upper Iowa or William Penn teams.  Those teams left the conference because they couldn't compete.  I respect any team out of the WIAC conference, Central is 4-4 against the WIAC and any conference that can beat us 50% of the time is worthy of respect.  Glad you guys beat up on each other during the regular season as much as we do in the IIAC.

Central has a lot of returning lettermen and all-conference starters back.  We do a good balance of running and passing, but lean more towards running unless we are behind.  The QB is very solid and one of his leading receivers is his brother.  Top running back graduated last year, so you will likely see a few people in that position until one really steps up and owns the position.   We are very strong on special teams play traditionally.

It should be a great game.  I don't know if they are webcasting the non-conference games or not this year.

Thanks for the info Klompen! Looks like I struck a nerve with the Upper Iowa / William Penn info...didn't mean any disrespect. I can guarantee UWO fully respects this Central team...should be a good game!

Here's a quick writeup on UWO this season:

Please note:

As a Wartburg grad and the son of a University of Dubuque grad, I have not been involved with this war of words between Willie U. and footballdaddy.

Since my UD mom learned to love her Wartburg kids and even her Upper Iowa kids, I kept thinking some day we would be able to bring Willie U around.  I'm affraid he has been scarred for life by a Wartburg grad somewhere along the way and this will never be resolved.

Sometimes the best way to make peace between two parties is to find a common enemy.  How about we all hate Simpson?  I kid!  I kid!

Well since there are some Storm fans on here how about we all become haters of Loras maybe then we can get some fans from that school on here.   :D :D :D

I wish that were the case, I would love to harrass a Lorass supporter but they only come out to play when the weather is nice  :-*

That is something you won't have trouble getting UD fans to agree with ;)

Also, if Willie's son ever came to him and told him he had narrowed his college choice to Loras and Wartburg you would see Willie become the biggest Wartburg fan on this planet...especially with all that funny money Wartburg throws at their athletes  :P

It's probably those letters of intent that got WB so many freshmen, huh?  Or that athletic scholarship.   ;)

Well with 12 coaches on staff that would be just under 5 freshmen per house to roof right?

I miss the good old days when life was simple and you knew where you stood.

Luther and Wartburg hated each other
Dubuque and Loras hated each other
Coe and Cornell hated each other
Simpson and the Dutch hated each other
And everybody kind of come together to hate BV because they didn't have anyone to hate.

So who opened Pandora"s box?

I vote that it was warthogs fault.  You know, with that whole mom from UD and siblings at UIU with him being a Wartburg grad thing going on

I'll take the blame before someone assigns it to me.  ;)

Thast's okay, you didn't strike a nerve, it was more that it was so laughable.  I wasn't sure how to respond.  Central is capable of having a down year, they just do it so rarely and our definition of a down year pretty much means we didn't win the conference or get in the playoffs.  Plentry of other teams would love our down year record and call it a great year.  Others just hang on the fact that it took triple OT to beat them.   :D  (that's for my friend Doolittle.)

Thanks for the link.  I will check it out.

When in doubt of who to blame, pick a Wartburg grad ;)

I can live with that, coming from a Wartburger. The feeling is mutual. Here's hoping the list of IIAC teams I like this year is bigger than yours.

The only good thing that comes from Decorah is lefsa.  And maybe T-Bock's (their food is delicious).  And I suppose I can give hats off to The Corner Bar since they would never I.D. me the summer I worked at Wal-Mart.

You lost all credibility when you didn't mention Mabe's Pizza.  I have neighbors w/ family in Decorah and they will periodically bring us a half-baked Mabe's Pizza....GREAT STUFF!
