Wait what? I thought they returned 6 "starters" from last year, they all sat out or what. Its hard for me to hear that as an excuse when you have that much experience from a very good team last year. Someone has got to be able to step in.

Plus...its freakin Iowa Wesleyan. If you are a Top 15ish team, there is no way they should put 21 up, let alone stay that close, IMO.

Coe did not have their best O-linemen playing nor their best D-lineman playing.

Thought they looked good regardless.

Two of the interceptions were Boyle's.

2 of the 6 were hurt and did not play.  The points for IWC came on big plays against some inexperienced Kohawks on defense.  Boyle looked like a freshman again in the first half.  Two picks and a fumble.  I believe one interception and the fumble were deep in IWC territory.

Everything that needed to happen in a non-conference game did for the Kohawks.  They got some new players experience and learned a lot of lessons.  I look for a different team to come out to play against Olivet Nazrene this weekend.

The key statistic I saw from the box score of the Wartburg/Monmouth game:

Time of possession: Monmouth 22:05  Wartburg 37:55

As we saw in Monmouth's nine second touchdown drive.  You need to keep Tanney off the field.

Wait What? Who's making excuses, I was just reporting some interesting facts from the game. I thought 48-21 was a good win and I am not ashamed that they gave up three touchdowns.  Iowa Wesleyan had some speed.

See where I use the word regardless, you douche.

It was fun to watch the Wartburg team grow in confidence as the game went on last night.  They went from looking like a focused and hard working team, to a team over flowing with confidence at the end of the game.   A victory like that last night was just what the Knights needed after a season like last year.

Were you there?  I wish you would have stopped by for brews, brats and bull s*** prior to the game.  We had plenty to share and I would have liked to introduce you to an assortment of the Wartburg faithful.  The tailgating was enjoyable.  We had the families of two new freshman in one direction and some of the 2000 to 2004 vintage Knights in the other. We all went away happy.

For the third year in a row.

Is Cedar Rapids Jefferson playing? Olivet lost their first two games by a combined score of 72-9. Not much of a test.

So based on your logic people could base their views of D-III on Cornell???   ???

Nah, just saying not all things from scholarship programs are automatically worthy of hype.  My red colored shades definitely create a bias.  Good win by Wartburg, obviously both the D and the O contributed to shutting down a powerful Monmouth squad.

Always strong to revert to name calling in defense of your position.  IWC has a new coach, a roster of 70 with less than 10 seniors, 2 wins last yr, (Waldorf and Trinity International) and only score 6 vs Trinity last week.  Coe and DBQ played the equivilant of an Eastern Illinois on Iowa's schedule, I would hope they looked good but I wouldn't take anything from that.

Whoa, back the truck up, if you want in on this argument and criticize what I have to say, first explain how my original comment is in anyway meant to be an excuse for how Coe played against a team that already has played a game this year.  I thought they played great and looked great and everyone else should be worried because some of their best players didn't play.
Nice kicking Elliot.

Was that necessary?

I watched over the internet.  We are planning on making the Wartburg homecoming game against Dubuque though.  Brews, brats, and BS are always on our "to do" list!!!
