Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Does it seem like there is a bit more local coverage of IIAC football this year?  KWWL did a story on the Knights and KCRG did a story on Cornell and the papers had coverage.  This is nice to see.

Remember it was opening weekend, ISU and UNI did not play on Saturday.

Whoa, back the truck up, if you want in on this argument and criticize what I have to say, first explain how my original comment is in anyway meant to be an excuse for how Coe played against a team that already has played a game this year.  I thought they played great and looked great and everyone else should be worried because some of their best players didn't play.
Nice kicking Elliot.

Wait what? Its hard for me to hear that as an excuse when you have that much experience from a very good team last year.

Coe did not have their best O-linemen playing nor their best D-lineman playing.
Thought they looked good regardless.
Two of the interceptions were Boyle's.
See where I use the word regardless, you douche.
Always strong to revert to name calling in defense of your position.
score 6 vs Trinity last week
Not as strong as putting words in somone's mouth, or extollng your virtue upon us with sarcasm when it's not your argument in the first place.

I am not supporting either one in this spat.  I did not read your post as an excuse but thought it odd you would open it by saying we didn't put our best team out there (paraphrased).  I can see how it would read that way to some now that it was posted.  Hope this can shed some light into it.  I read your post as saying it could have been better but you were happy with the results.  Trouble with message boards people read things into a post that they shouldn't or are not there.  I also see valid comments from the point that IW was not a tough team.  Haivng said that unless seeing a roster of who was in at the time or how a team scored may be misleading as well.  2nd and 3rd teamers could have given up points.  The score alone does not tell the story of the game.

KCRG TV story on Cornell game w/ video

http://www.kcrg.com/sports/local/North-Central-41-Cornell-7-102235254.html

That video was an ugly reminder of what I saw on Saturday. I walked in right after Herbert's touchdown. The next thing I saw was big pass play, poor tackling for a rushing TD, a fumbled kickoff return, and an easy pass to the TE for a TD.

To say they need work in their pass coverage is a huge understatement. The missed tackles were highly annoying as well. They have their work cut out for them. Coach B doesn't seem like the kind of guy that will allow his players to quit on him at any point during a game. That was one thing that I didn't see on Saturday. They played hard. They just need to correct some things. We'll see how things progress from here.

Classy man, straight up class(less). I was stating an opinion, I've never called anyone names on here and I was not at the game. Regardless, don't act like a 12 year old about it. If I pissed you off, great, argue all you want. I don't really care if I did or not.

I had hoped Central would have won by a larger margin, looks like UWOK has a good team, or we didn't play up to our abilities. Im not sure, but hopefully they continue to build upon a good win and keep it going in a positive direction.

Wait What? Who's making excuses, I was just reporting some interesting facts from the game. I thought 48-21 was a good win and I am not ashamed that they gave up three touchdowns.  Iowa Wesleyan had some speed.

See where I use the word regardless, you douche.

No you were not.  You were putting words in my mouth.  Saying I was making excuses for the way Coe played.

I was not classless.  I mispelled Dutch.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

One thing that wasn't reflected in the outcome is that the Rams' kicker seems be a bonafide specialist with some potential.  Over the past couple years of having kickers that made every PAT seem like a 50:50 proposition at best, this guy got lift on his kicks and he strikes the ball well.  Having seen linebackers punt and safeties and WR's kick over the past couple of years was depressing.  Punting wise, he had a pretty good game for a freshman.

He's got to work a bit on the accuracy of the FG's but I think he'll help win games.  Over the years our kickers have been so bad that the blown PAT's and missed chip shot FG's just killed.  If this guy can get accurate from 30-35 on in, it will make a difference in games against the lower half of the IIAC.

Listen Einstein, In my OPINION, you were making excuses for how Coe played. Which, I am entitled to think either way so, deal with it, try to act like you are an adult, and move on.

You were showing a complete lack of class in calling another adult childlike names on an anonymous message board.

PH - none taken, got a good chuckle out of me this morning! +k :)

Let's play nice boys.....haven't footballdaddy and I taught you guys anything  ???  ;D

On another note, I am not sure what to make of all the IIAC teams yet after 1 week of non-conference games, I think we will know more after this week.....

Congrats to the teams that won and keep your head up to the teams that didn't  ;)

Heys, you're right about the kicker. When I saw him hit the upright, I was happy with the distance and lift. Obviously, I would've liked to see Cornell get 3 points out of it but this kid has potential to get some points on the board for them.
