Thank you all for wising me up to the challenges presented by the hurry up offense.  Moving on, it looks like Ross Doehrmann got the most touches at running back.  Is he the next Zachary/Schuring?  Or is he at least enough of a threat to keep opposing defenses honest and out of Snead's face?  Considering the amount of talent in Central's O line, it isn't surprising that he got several 4 to 6 yard runs.  It just seems like if he got through the line that many times, he should have busted at least one for a long gain.  Of course you can only tell so much from box scores.

Central coaching staff instructed him not to break off any long runs because the defense needed time to rest because of Oshkosh running their no-huddle offense ;)

Just ask Willie.

I know where you were trying to go.......but the delivery and outcome were PRICELESS!

I'm with CC4CK'Hack on this week's Pick 'ems, we're picking the Central Douche.    8-)

I should've made the obvious observation about Oshkosh running the no-huddle. Considering their '09 performance, they didn't run it like they knew what they were doing. It would be hard to imagine that, with the same guy at the helm, they would somehow learned the intricate nuances of running the offensive effectively in the off-season, after spending 10 + weeks last year looking lost. Now, if Mount Union's very young defense is equally befuddled at Oshkosh's newly found sophistication on offense as Central appears was, I reserve the right to revise my view.   ;)

The middle was pretty crowded all day, I didn't see many shots at daylight for him.  Kyle Wood however showed a little acceleration around the end (7 carries for 50) so we may see RB team of Mr. Inside and Mr. Outside from these two this year.  Nice to have the depth.  Between them I don't think we'll see opponents think pass only.

Kyle Wood impressed me.  He did have the speed and some great runs.  I don't know if it is an inside vs. outside thing or if Doerhmann has the better build to take the continuous pounding better than Wood, but they both showed nice promise.

I don't want to take anything at all away from UWO.  They had us on the ropes much of the day.  So whether it was good no huddle or the events of the week with the head coach's brother passing away so unexpectedly and how it may have affected the team, it is hard to say.  I imagine MUC will have a good day on Saturday, the UWO defense won't match up with them.  It will be interesting to see how the UWO offense does, but then again, MUC is not a team I would want to play hurry up offense against just because it would put the D out there quicker one way or the other.  I would want to milk the clock if playing MUC.

I am sure a WIAC team would have gladly not played a D-II or NAIA school.

Just a side note talking about the Cornell Rams. They seem to have found more stability with a coaching staff that has proven success at the collegiate level in the past, and although they have low numbers this year they seem to have a pretty good QB that will help them start to build something. They need to start realizing that a recruiting pitch of we are rebuilding this year isn't going to work because they have been saying that for years. Cornell needs to win some games this year and tell and show these kids that they can be competitive in the IIAC
