I suppose -- there aren't many ways losses help, though, because we saw last year that an 8-2 team isn't going to have much of a chance no matter what the schedule is.

Yes but if out of region wins dont count do they not ignore out of region losses too?

True. More or less. Everything is such a gray area in football because of the limited number of games. On paper they are supposed to be treated equally but in real life it seems like a non-region loss is held against teams.

Two IIAC teams in the Top 10.  That's pretty impressive.

Both teams need to take care of business this week to set up the big game!

Not sure why Central got hurdled by Wittenburg though.

Good question.  Guessing the pollster's saw that they won 52-0 and 48-6 and moved them up.

Witt's opponents have been pretty bad, but they destroyed them.  Central's opponents have been considerably better (though hardly great), but they only beat them by a combined 11 points.  Personally, I wouldn't have moved Witt above Central until they beat someone of note, but I can't really fault the voters for doing so.  So far, Central looks like a very good team, but hardly a 'world-beater'.

Caught the Central game on MC22 last night. As sloppy as I have seen them play in years, going to have to clean that up to stay unbeaten coming into the IIAC. Uncharacteristic turnovers, especially by Snead, and not to mention many sloppy penalties. I was impressed with the Oline, and overall defensive speed and physicality. The dline is impressive and Rush is only 185 but the kid brings the wood!

I know no details of the MUC -UWOK game, but it was similar-ish scores. 35-28 and MUC won 45-28, considerable ore offensive output, which I expect from MUC, but giving up 28 to the 6th place WIAC team, I didnpt think Id see that.

The Dutch clean things up and they will be damn tough to beat. I think Zwiefel could have a lot of receiving yards but he cant beat us alone. I dunno about DBQs oline but they had best bring their game next week or it will be a long Saturday for an inexperienced QB.

DH,the 28 points scored by Oshkosh was the most points UMU has given up in the last 123 regular season games! I don't think I need to mention, that's nearly 12 1/2 years!

Just got home from the UD-Platteville game an hour ago and will catergorize this game one way: Missed opportunities. I am unhappy with the loss as I am sure every coach, player and fan are but I know there isn't a single person that doesn't believe we should  have won that game. Having said that, I think it is going to make the Spartans hungrier.

Hats off to platteville for fighting back (although I wish someone would post the deflected TD reception on youtube because there is no way his feet were in bounds  >:( ) Regardless, we had other opportunities and didn't capitalize.

One thing is for sure, in my opinion, this is a better overall team then last year.

Go Spartans!!!

Looks like a good catch to me.  Probably better than video.
... and then we got a view from our student TV station, and find the video is even more conclusive. (Watch the second shot, which is in slow motion.) http://www.uwplatt.edu/athletics/football/2010/Blazercatch3.wmv
