He is a leader/captain. In wanting to do the best he can at the center position he learned the plays of each of the linemans positions. That's why I believe that there moving him around, but keep in mind that others are being moved around. players that are having trouble with their own positions.
I guess a big thing is to give support on something that is puzzling me. I'm not one to coach bash at home and then send my son off to play. He's questioning whats happening and I'm just keeping my lips zipped. I just tell him to do the best he can at whatever position he ends up in.
Having the parents come to me is a different story. This is my 9th year with this school and they're looking at me like I have the inside scoop? I'm in the dark just as they are, but I just I continue to support the coaching staff. I keep my nose out of what they do and stay in the stands as i believe a parent should. Still it's hard to watch whats going on.  ???

You should be commended for staying quiet. I know it's hard to do so, but there is nothing to be gained by questioning the coaches. Their track record would point to that they know what they are doing. Having a muntiny start amongst the parents benefits no one.

The 'daddy is on point here.  Your son's school has a proven track record of success.  All is not lost in one game, particularly at this point in the season.  Only the rats jump off the ship this early.

AZ, if your son is really having a problem, he should go to his position coach and ask for some clarification. If he goes to him as an adult and expresses his concerns with being moved, his coach should answer him as an adult. If he doesn't get a good explanation, then he can go to the head coach. The more you and the other parents stay in the backround, the better it will be. I know of a situation at the D3 level where a parent went to the coach to complain about his kid's playing time and position and all the kid got was asked off the team.

Dubuque Telegraph-Herald story on Loras freshman running back Hillard starting off strong.  Also Loras grad Steger now the special teams coach at SIU.  And continuing the Loras theme it goes on to mention the Loras womens Futbol team is ranked #23 nationally.  Luther gets a mention about a former Dubuque Senior grad now running for 4 time reigning IIAC champ.

I am sure Hillard is a good kid but I get pissed every time I hear his name. His parents are UD ALUMS and so are all of his uncles and aunts that went to college. In fact, I played football at UD with his uncle. I tried encouraging him to become a Spartan but to no avail. I guess partying with his Galena buddies that are at Lorass was more important then being part of winning traditions (new and old).

See......he is also first cousins with the Snead boys at Central and was on Central's team last year and got hurt. Then he decided to transfer to lorass. Bad choice, I would have respected the decision to stay at central more then his current one.

Sour grapes, yes I am  ;D At least the best player from his high school team (Ryan Stodden) made the right choice and came to UD.

I am happy for his success of course as I would be any player. I do however think he is in for some eye openings come IIAC play.

Also, did I mention that EVEN HIS SISTER went to UD and was a standout volleyball player. Still makes me even more angry that he is at Lorass  >:(

Gee, quit holding back and tell us how you really feel.

Maybe he took a look at the UD roster and figured he'd never see the field at UD :D

+ karma for both of you.  In the Telegraph's Herald, they said "An Iowa Conference star is born in Duhawks tailback Matt Hillard"

I think that is getting way to cocky considering he hasn't even played in an IIAC game  ???

Doolittle is right, he would be 3rd string at best at UD.

If I read it right, they are predicting that he will be an IIAC star after playing lowly Simpson.

Doesn't Spurrier's son still play for Cincinnati? If so, he's on ESPN now.

While I am happy to see coverage of UD getting more space in the paper and on-line.  They do still tend to gush over any local kid that goes on to a career at Loras.  Not too long ago they wrote a piece about a Galena product that was better than a kid that signed with Iowa and that this kid was destined for great things at Loras.  He ended up not even winning the starting job at Loras at his high school position and has been switched over to another position to get some playing time.

Such is life.  Good luck to all the IIAC teams this weekend.  I am hoping for good, hard fought games that get decided late late late in the 4th quarter...or later ;)

Good luck to my Spartans, I know you have prepared yourselves well, you have a good game plan, now go out and play to the best of your abilities and we'll see how things turn out.
