Maybe he took a look at the UD roster and figured he'd never see the field at UD :D

That's probably why he left Central.

Such is life.  Good luck to all the IIAC teams this weekend.  I am hoping for good, hard fought games that get decided late late late in the 4th quarter...or later ;)

+k Doolittle, you have always taken the good natured ribbing very well.

http://www.central.edu/athletics/story.cfm?storyID=3090 is Central's write-up of the upcoming game with UD on Saturday.  Coach Mac does a good job of recognizing all the options that UD has offensively.  Hope we can mostly contain them this weekend.

Loras 24, Simpson 17 — An Iowa Conference star is born in Duhawks tailback Matt Hillard and a hard-working program wins its second straight in Loras' Iowa Conference opener.

No. 7 Central 30, Dubuque 27 — The Spartans lately have been the thorn the Dutch have pulled out of their side just in the nick of time. No IIAC team has put Central through more stress over the last three seasons than UD. With Central's stone run defense giving up 28.5 yards per game, UD quarterback Wyatt Hanus, All-American receiver Michael Zweifel and company will launch this upset bid through the air.

He is a leader/captain. In wanting to do the best he can at the center position he learned the plays of each of the linemans positions. That's why I believe that there moving him around, but keep in mind that others are being moved around. players that are having trouble with their own positions.
I guess a big thing is to give support on something that is puzzling me. I'm not one to coach bash at home and then send my son off to play. He's questioning whats happening and I'm just keeping my lips zipped. I just tell him to do the best he can at whatever position he ends up in.
Having the parents come to me is a different story. This is my 9th year with this school and they're looking at me like I have the inside scoop? I'm in the dark just as they are, but I just I continue to support the coaching staff. I keep my nose out of what they do and stay in the stands as i believe a parent should. Still it's hard to watch whats going on.  ???

That is why they have message boards so parents can vent and not get the coaches ticked off at them in the process of venting.  It is hard to get a line to gel if they are all moving but sounds like it might be a compliment to your son that the coach can try him at different postitions.

Happy start of Conference Play Season to everyone.  Central's non-con schedule was plenty challenging.  I don't see where anyone got hurt so, I hope it got them ready for U of D.  I am so excited I am even looking forward to my annual frustration over trying to remember how to get to watch the web cast.  I am going to make sure I have an extra six pack handy just in case the game goes to over-time.

AZ, if your son is really having a problem, he should go to his position coach and ask for some clarification. If he goes to him as an adult and expresses his concerns with being moved, his coach should answer him as an adult. If he doesn't get a good explanation, then he can go to the head coach. The more you and the other parents stay in the backround, the better it will be. I know of a situation at the D3 level where a parent went to the coach to complain about his kid's playing time and position and all the kid got was asked off the team.

I would like to say the game came with out a hitch, but our offense definitely needs some help. This game went into the loss category 30-07. My son played tackle and stayed at that position the whole game. With watching the game and the coaches between downs, I can only assume the direction that they're going.
This coaching staff has always made their adjustments in the beginning of the seasons. Adjustments that they believe will help in the later part of the season. When my son that is at Central played at this high school, they're season started out at 2-3. Everyone then was wondering about the year. They continued to win the rest of their games and the state championship.
I've always told my sons the importance of an offensive line. I believe the offensive line is the first and front line of defense. Just like in the army. They're either there to protect the soldiers or to push the front line forward down the field.
I appreciate the input. Something else I always keep in mind, it's a game. At this level it should be enjoyed by the boys who are playing it!

Already getting nervous about tomorrow. Cornell always plays us hard, and we seem to not bring our best. I hope it doesn't bite us this year.

Hope everyone stays healthy.

I was going to say something profound for my 1000th post, but that would be totally out of character.

The fact that I woke up breathing irritates some people!
