Cornell...along with Grinnell, Drake, Washington U in St. Louis, U of Chicago, and Colorado College to form new conference.  FCS non-scholarship in football, D1 in all other sports to be called the Flyover Conference.  When asked by the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Courier to comment, Cornell AD John Cochrane replied "This will be great for our school and athletic department, you'd have to be a fool not to jump at this opportunity."

Appropriate story for April 1st.  ;)

For the record ... and to get some action on this page ... NewKnightDad2 won the IIAC group in ESPN's Tournament Challenge.  UConn's victory on Saturday wrapped it up for him.   Congratulations!

Most interesting development:  mrsdoolittle beat out doolittledog ... and ArizonaDutchwoman beat out ArizonaDutchman.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

NewKnightDad

I am not sure how my bracket with the final four teams of UConn, Notre Dame, Syracuse and Pitt can win anything.
Win or lose we still booze!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think MrsDoolittle has outscored Doolittle on EVERY tournament challenge she has participated in thus far....

What do you think of this?

http://www.d3football.com/notables/2011/03/umhb-new-stadium

A - Someone has a boat load of money

B - Hard to recruit Texas kids if you don't have a stadium that is as nice as your typical Texas High School football stadium :D

C - UMHB could be looking to follow fellow Texas school McMurry and head to D2 in the near future???

D - This could change the perception of some out there that think D3 is glorified intramurals or high school football!!!

Not so sure about that!! Take a look at some of the 4A and 5A stadiums in Texas HS football. Many of them have larger seating capacities than just about anything in DIII.  High-tech video scoreboards and some even appear to have enormous press boxes with luxury suites, too.

Yeah, see "B" from that list.  That place would be a typical 4A/5A place in Texas.  I was meaning people from around the nation might take a different eye to what a D3 football stadium can look like.

Every now and then on the D2 board and FCS board when they see facilities from the WIAC and RPI and some other D3 schools that have nice facilities those posters get confused and wonder why a school with nice facilities like that would want to play in little ole D3.  It blows their mind that D3 isn't always this nice little intramural, everybody sing kum ba yah around the camp fire and have have fun type experiance.

Anybody with any off season IIAC coaching news?  Any new assistant hires to speak of?  Anyone move from from position coach to coordinator?

Anyone hear of some local kid that is planning on playing for an IIAC school next fall?

Anyone have any spring practice news?

Is Big Willie's new child letting him get any sleep yet???

Anyone hear anymore news re: Cornell leaving for the MWC?

Anyone hear any news of any potential replacement for Cornell?

Has there ever been a post that used the word "any" any more than this post???  ;D

Let's talk some IIAC football rumor and innuendo and pure guessing.  Maybe even some speculation and downright lies and fabrication!!!

Changes @ Wartburg
With the departure of former defensive coordinator Joel Dettwiler to UW-La Crosse as head coach, Wartburg College Director of Athletics and head football coach Rick Willis has announced that Chris Winter has been promoted to the position of defensive coordinator. Winter has been on the Knights' coaching staff since 2005.

He takes over a defensive unit that ranked among NCAA Division III's best a year ago. The 2010 Knights were ninth in fewest points allowed per game (12.91) and eighth in turnover margin (plus 1.45 per game) as well as being in the top 10 in sacks (3.36 pg).

"Chris has been instrumental in our success and is very committed to the program," Willis said. "We're excited to expand his role in the leadership of our program."

Winter, also the head strength and conditioning coordinator for the college's athletic department, will continue to lead the defensive backs' area as well, a position he's been in since 2008.

Additionally, former defensive line coach Scott Power has been moved into the role of full-time defensive assistant and will coach the linebackers.

"Scott has done a tremendous job the past two years," Willis said. "It's a great opportunity for us to retain a quality coach and recruiter in the program."

Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

Sleep....yes. Consistent, uninterrupted sleep for longer then 5 hours...not yet  ;)

My plan was of course is to have her sleeping through the night by football season.....I've got a few months. It makes the hangovers much more minor when you can sleep until morning  ;D
