I have been to the Vesterhiem (sp?)  Museum in Decorah twice.  First time in 1975 with a Senior Citizens tour I was leading and two years ago with my wife (ironic she now qualifies as a senior citizen at some casinos).  Whenever the Royals come they visit the museum. It has one of the largest collections of Scandinavian artifacts in the world.

It is hard to impress a twentysome recent college grad with antique furniture but the hand carved walnut furniture impressed me enough that I took the wife to see it.

They also have a boat that two Norwegian brothers sailed from Norway to the U.S. during the great Norwegian migration.  I wouldn't feel safe on the Coralville Resevoir in that boat.

I think fans from any school in the conference (except Wartburg) could appreciate culture available at the museum.

Anybody with any off season IIAC coaching news?  Any new assistant hires to speak of?  Anyone move from from position coach to coordinator?

Anyone hear of some local kid that is planning on playing for an IIAC school next fall?

Anyone have any spring practice news?

Is Big Willie's new child letting him get any sleep yet???

Anyone hear anymore news re: Cornell leaving for the MWC?

Anyone hear any news of any potential replacement for Cornell?

Has there ever been a post that used the word "any" any more than this post???  ;D

Let's talk some IIAC football rumor and innuendo and pure guessing.  Maybe even some speculation and downright lies and fabrication!!!

Does anybody have any idea what happened to any of KnightSlayer's whereabouts?

Knightslayer got himself banned by Pat for having two profiles and interacting between the two. Basicly, he was a fake.

Prince Warthog and Princess Mrs. Warthog plan to visit Waverly on October 13th which happens to be 2 days before the Knights play their homecoming game against UD.  Our itinerary includes stops at Joe's KnightHawk,  the Fainting Goat, the Waverly Country Club and other watering holes in Bremer County.  I wonder if the Warthogs or the Norwegian royalty will have more fun that day.

He was a legend in his own mind....with a double personality.

Like Clark Kent and Superman....without a cape.

Tell those establishments you're royalty and maybe you won't have to pick up the tab ;)

And since UD is playing Wartburg for their Homecoming on October 8th...I suspect Wartburg is playing someone else for the Knights Homecoming...unless you were so happy with your 55-17 beat down of UD for last years Homecoming that you decided to schedule the Spartans 2 years in a row :D

Of course doolittle is correct.  The Knights play Simpson for the Wartburg homecoming.  Perhaps I visited a couple of those establishments before I wrote my previous posting.  ;)
The Knights play UD for homecoming, however it is the Spartans' homecoming game not the Knights'.  :-[

I'd be ok with the home team winning their homecoming game 55-17 for the 2nd straight year :D

Iowa Conference sighting of the day.  In the basement of a house I was inspecting today hung Coe and Wartburg football jerseys.  Apparently the father of the homeowner was an All-American at Coe in the 1970's and the homeowner played at Wartburg in the 1990's.  So I guess that actually makes that a MWC and IIAC sighting since Coe was in the MWC back in those days ;)

Any spring practice news?  Any recruiting news??  Any news re: Cornell leaving for the MWC???  Articles I have found about Cornell leaving all said a decision would be made in the spring about them returning to the MWC.  You would think there would be an official announcement soon.

NewKnightDad

Does anyone know when Cornell will be breaking ground on their football stadium upgrades?

I also saw where UD is building three new dormitory buildings, the money is still rolling in.
Win or lose we still booze!!

Since IIAC football is so boring at this time of year, check the SOFTBALL  STATS/ COMPETION between Central, Coe, Luther and Simpson.  Great games, hitting, pitching et al.  Those gals are great athletes !!

As others have noted, it is slow on here this time of year.

So let's play...Is DBQ1965 in any of these old photos???

DBQ1965 graduated from UD in 1965, went on to seminary in Chicago, then came back to UD from '69-'71 to teach speech classes and was the faculty advisor to the Mu Sigma Beta fraternity...of which I later was a member...and I have access to photos from that era :D

Interesting to note that most everyone in those old photos are now probably at, or near retirement age...are likely grandparents and respected members of their communities :o

Nope ... not in any of those.  Can you believe those haircuts?
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Those pics were all labelled '69-'71  I was curious if any of them were actually from that time period.

I have run across a few newspaper articles announcing a kid was planning on playing football in the fall for UD.  Then it occured to me that other IIAC coaches could see that and continue to recruit the kids.  So I didn't post that info on here :D

Anyone with any spring football news?

Anyone with new tailgating recipes?  Ones that include bacon ;D
