If you recall, at the Central vs. Coe game last fall a Central spectator was beaten by a man living across the street from the Coe football field.  This same Cedar Rapids man has now been charged with murder in the stabbing death of a Cedar Rapids taxi driver.  Here is the link to the article in the Cedar Rapids Gazette.

Calling this guy a "man" is a stretch by any means of one's imagination.

I wonder if it will be in the spot where we lived ... 421 McCormick ... across the street from what was then (and may still be) the President's house.

Sort of a theme in Dubuque County --------- "Build it and they will come."

It sounds like a good idea to sort of tie all the loose ends together in one facility.  It will certainly be an anchor building for the college well into the future.  Congratulations UD.

I treated the staff in my area to Dutch Letters from Jaarsma's Bakery today.

Two dozen are a little pricey, but I was a hero!

For 2011, Wartburg @ Monmouth and Coe @ Hardin-Simmons both show up on D-3's front page for Top 25 Games kicking off the season.

It will be across the street from your old address.  Taking the place of a current parking lot.  By the time I was at UD the Presidents house had moved to a place on Grandview...I'm pretty sure it has moved once again to an even nicer location.  What had been the Presidents house in your day had become the college Chaplains residence in my day.  All gone now as the campus undergoes its transformation.

In a bit of IIAC recruiting news...and not involving UD :D

My local high school announces 2 seniors will be playing at IIAC schools next fall.

http://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=ukfootball

TJ Gray DE/OC will go to Cornell and...

Matt Schmitz DE/OL will go to Coe

I'm sure the school will announce a few more making their college choices soon.

The Union HC was the HC as BVU about 15 years ago.  Last year our school sent a lineman to BV, a WR to Wartburg, a QB/kicker to UW-Platteville and a TE to Winona St in D2.

I've only heard arguments/opinions from the Cornell side of things but they should just get this thing over with already.

Interesting article, however they weren't quite correct when they identifed Coe as the IIAC champions last season.  I believe that title belonged to a team a little further north.
