I keep hearing that Weymiller will be returning to the Coe lineup. Can any of you Kohawks confirm?

Bad news for the IIAC Quarterbacks, minus Brad Boyle.  Frank Weymiller will be back in the line-up this year.

Sounds like communism to me.  I kid!  I kid!  I don't get to see enough IIAC games to have an opinion of the quality of the officiating and I don't even know where the officials come from under the current system.  But I am all in favor of anything that makes them better.

There are so many D3 schools in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois that I think it makes sense for those conferences to go together and have a head of officials.  Once you keep expanding the footprint I think you could eventually add too wide of a geographic area and include too many schools for that plan to work effectively though.

I must have missed something -- was there word of a pending transfer?  Hurt?  Modeling?  Whichever the case, good news for Coe.

He missed last year due to some kind of injury. I thought it was career ending but it would appear that it was not. I think we can count modeling out if he returns with that sweet mullet he had a couple of years ago.

Simpson College making improvements to Buxton Stadium.

http://www.simpsonathletics.com/facilities/buxtonresurface

They have built new ticket booths, installed perimeter pillars and fencing and are currently resurfacing the field and track.  Future plans are for a brick enclosure of the east stand as well as a donor plaza and a renovation of the press box.

So, who will be next in the never ending facilities improvements we see in the IIAC?  BVU have any plans?  Does Wartburg now have the oldest turf in the conference?  Their turf is looking a little worn out...and that pink track!!!

The SC improvements are much needed and what they've done so far is a nice upgrade.

This probably answers the BV question.  http://www.bvu.edu/only_at_bvu/news/detail.dot?id=202307

Now what will we all make fun of...??  ;)

In all seriousness, glad you guys are upgrading turf. It's a much-needed improvement. I haven't looked very carefully -- will it be ready in time for the '11 season?

Thanks for the update stormchaser.

Sooooo, with Cornell leaving after next season...Does that leave Luther as the only school in the conference with natural grass?  There has been a lot of money put into facilities in our conference during the past decade.

Is Central waiting for that big donation from Dutchie to move the home stands to the other side of the field and put in all those bells and whistles they were talking about?  Are those plans on hold?  Do they have a timeline for those improvements?

Anyone think the IIAC adds a school within the next few years?  Will they keep everyting on the down low and then suddenly announce the new member to everyones surprise???

Yep, can't make fun of the old rug any longer. It will be ready for '11 and, frankly, would have to be. Remember, Indianola plays all of their home games on campus, too. I've been told they'll have a nice little upgrade of lettering in the end zones but, alas, the soccer lines will still be there. They went with FieldTurf this time.  I guess it's their newest model... U of Utah installed it last year and Fresno State is putting it in this year.

Moral of the story...I should start wishing for that new bright red track at Chipotle stadium to fade to pink in the near future ;)

I am formally announcing that I am seeking the nomination of my party to become a candidate for the office of governor.

I have only three items on my platform:

1) It shall be illegal in the state of Iowa to ruin football fields with soccer and/or rugby lines.

2) All NCAA D3 colleges in the state of Iowa shall provide user friendly, well shaded, booze encouraged tailgating facilities within two block of the football stadium.

3) Cornell shall be allowed to rejoin the MWC, but the Chameleon's Bleu Cheeseburger shall become exclusive property of the IIAC.

With a platform like that, am forming a get out the vote group.  Procrastinators For Warthog.  Warthog will have our groups full support.  Don't count on us to do to much until manana.
